With the day starting off, it consisted of setting up the store to look presentable and ready to serve customers. You placed new batches of bouquets in the front and made sure that pen & paper were readily available. The spring season was right around the corner and that meant that your days were only going to get busier. Taking orders, working hard to arrange them, and handing them to the person who ordered it. It was a lot but luckily you had help from your team. There was no way that you could handle the seemingly infinite list of orders by yourself.
Beomgyu and Yeonjun were in charge of keeping track of the orders overall including ones that were placed on the phone or online. Huening Kai and Taehyun took on the front desk orders and dealt with in-store customers. Lastly, you and Soobin worked on the actual floral arranging.
Before the five of them came in, you’d work on making the flowers bloom in the back of your store. The part of the store that was secluded and the only way someone could possibly see what you were doing was if they were inside the store. Yes, you read that right. In this strange world, you were given the powers to manipulate flowers.
With a wave of your hands above the flowers, it could wither or blossom. It’s quite helpful as you run this store when the flowers aren’t ready in time for an order. No one has ever questioned where you get them, even when said flowers aren’t supposed to be in season. Those who order are simply overjoyed that they’ll have them to give to their loved ones.
This power is pretty much used to its fullest. In your defense, it helps keep this shop in business all year round and besides what they don’t know can’t hurt them.
You debated for a long time about telling the boys as about your powers. They’ve been a huge help and at this point have become your family. Taking you under their wing when they noticed you were new to town. If you could describe your friendship with them, you’d pick the word siblings. They sure acted like it too. The bickering and picking on each other was endless. It left you wondering if they were always like this. As much as they’re great at annoying each other, they’re equally as good at expressing their love and affection to each other.
Maybe today or this week would be when you finally tell them. Even though you weren’t completely sure what their reactions would be, knew deep down that they’d still love you. If you ask me, they’re a little weird for that… but it’s also what makes them so love-able.
You ask them to come in the back once the store is on break time. When they come into the back and are full of curious eyes & ears. Looking at you and then at the two pots filled with flowers then back at you. One of the pots was filled with wilting flowers and the other with thriving flowers.
You place your hand over the pot with the wilting flowers and suddenly its petals start to bloom. Then you do the same to the other flowers except now it’s shriveling up. Not knowing what to expect, you tightly shut your eyes and refuse to open them up until you hear something from them. It doesn’t last for long because Soobin is the first one to do something, and that something is giving you a hug.
The rest of them follow suit. Even if they’re puzzled and the tiniest bit scared, they know that you wouldn’t hurt them with these powers. When the hug is over, Beomgyu and Taehyun’s mountain full of questions come at you. Questions ranging from “Does it hurt when you use your powers?” to “Can you bring back a dead forest??”. Answering to those that you knew the answer to and before Yeonjun harshly lightly kicked Beomgyu to stop asking questions.
“Taehyun, Beomgyu, and Kai. Could y’all please leave that way me and Soobin can talk to y/n alone?” Yeonjun asks with a stern tone and they leave. As they leave, the air starts to feel lighter and you take a nice deep breath in. Letting it out, Soobin and Yeonjun give you your space.
“How are you feeling?” Soobin questions with a worried look painted on his face. Answering with “Feeling better now that you guys know, but I should be the one asking you that! Thank you for the hug by the way, Bin. I hope that didn’t make you guys scared or anything. But I also understand if it’ll take time for y’all to accept that part of me.” All said with sprinkles of uncertainty in your voice.
You hoped that they wouldn’t notice the little squeakiness in your voice. They were both super quick to deny that they felt any different towards you. If anything, they felt like they had another reason to be protective of you. In sync, their hands created the letter X.
For a while, nothing happened after that. Until you brought them into a big hug. Whispering softly “thank you and I love you guys so much more than you’ll ever know”. Giving them a chaste kiss on the cheek before exiting the backroom. The rest of the day, they all acted like nothing happened. You knew that they’d ask you more about it but for now, you were glad that they knew about it. The weight of the secret lifted itself off from your shoulders.
You decided to send them home earlier so that they could enjoy the sun while it was still out. Beomgyu and Taehyun didn’t think twice about leaving. Understandably so since Taehyun wanted to go gym and Beomgyu wanted to game. While Soobin, Yeonjun, and Kai weren’t sure of how they felt about leaving you and they didn’t really know what to do. After re-assuring them that it was fine, you practically kicked them out. Luckily, it wasn’t too busy. To be honest, you kind of enjoyed it. Of course, it was always fun working with everyone but so was working alone.
It allowed you to play music that you liked and run the store like the girlboss you were. Plus, you didn’t have to worry about bumping into each other. Or possibly breaking a vase or even accidentally crushing a flower arrangement that was freshly done. Before you knew it, the sun had set and the tick of the clock served as a gentle reminder that it was almost time for you to close the store.
Cleaning the store is fun when you have your music playing in the background. It makes cleaning up feel less like a task. Taking one last glance at the store before locking the door and making your way home. Stepping outside, you’re hit with a gentle breeze and met with the view of the illuminating night sky. Stars coloring the sky golden. You swear that you could stare forever at it.
Unfortunately it seems like the universe has other plans for you. When an icicle nearly grazes your face, your attention is stolen away. Forcing you to try to find out where that came from and who would do that to you. Last time you checked, there wasn’t anyone you treated horribly in this town - meaning there shouldn’t be anyone who would hate you enough to attempt to harm you.
Frantically turning your head to search for anyone or anything. Alas, your eyes land on a guy. He’s standing under a streetlight and staring confusingly at his hand. As if, he didn’t know that he could do that. You must have been staring way too long because the next thing you know he holds eye contact with you. While it’s dark outside, there is just enough light out to make out that your eyes are shining full of curiosity but also swirling with fear. Before he could utter a word, you ran as fast as your legs could take you. In the distance though, he was screaming apologies in hopes that you’d heard him.
Talking to someone who might have killed you was not a risk you wanted to take. Running for your life was not how you expected closing the store by yourself would go. But then again, does anyone really expect the unexpected to happen?
You arrived at your apartment and spent the night trying to process what the fuck happened. Thinking about if it was worth it or not telling the boys about your strange encounter tonight. Not wanting to make them worry and all. You would never hear the end of it and that they’d never agree to let you close alone again.
After showering, the water must have rinsed away your worries because your mind calmed down enough for you to sleep peacefully.
As the sun starts to rise up, so do you. Getting ready for the day, and making your way to open the store. The boys are already there waiting for you and even got you some breakfast! Knowing your habits, you didn’t eat breakfast. At this point, they’ve heard every single excuse from the books. Hearing you exclaim that you don’t need it, you’ve already eaten (which is a lie or a half-lie), or that you’re too busy.
And only for them to shush you and enjoy the coffee & cinnamon rolls. Which you do after thanking them a bunch. Opening up the store will them makes the process so much earlier and faster (obviously). For people who love to fool around a lot, they sure do get the job done. When you’re all done eating, you head over to the back and work your magic. One by one, they all start to fill the back room. All of their eyes watching it unfold and they’re so mesmerized.
To you, it’s gotten kind of boring and has become mindless work. On the flip side, to them it’s so fucking cool. They already thought you were cool but this elevates it by tenfold. Imagine getting to tell people that their best friend has actual magical powers. Of course, they wouldn’t tell anyone without your permission but the thought of it felt so powerful.
This little show is cut-short when they hear a bell ring coming from the front door. You’re the first one to exit the back to see if this customer needs help. Everyone else disperses into where they’re supposed to be. The customer takes a look around the store before settling on a bouquet. Slowly but surely making their way to the front desk to pay. While it’s not often that you’re the one who handles the cash register or orders, you know just about everyone in this town and this man was someone new.
“Good morning, sir! Are you by any chance new to town?” Taking the bouquet to scan it and wrap it nicely. He chuckles a little before responding “Did I make it too obvious?”. You nod and actually get a good look at the man in front of you. It’s hard to describe how gorgeous he is. The way the morning sun is shining on him, it highlights his facial features. Especially his doe eyes and sharp jawline.
“Definitely made it too obvious. But welcome to Solaris Square! I’m y/n, and you are?”, Handing back the wrapped bouquet to him. “The name’s Sunghoon, and thank you for the welcome!”
“No problem and your total is $20”. So he gives you a twenty dollar bill. You would think he would leave after making his purchase but he doesn’t. When you’re about to put in another bouquet, he hands you what he recently bought. You look around to see if there is someone else he meant to give this to.
“It’s for you, silly”. You scan his face looking for any type of tell-tale sign that he’s messing around with you. Finding nothing, you accept them and give your thanks. When you take them from him, your smile is wide. Thinking about it though, it’s been a while since an attractive guy has done a sweet gesture for you. However, you notice that when you receive the flowers from him, they feel a bit chilly. It was certainly not there when you wrapped them up.
Even as he leaves, the room feels colder than the weather outside. Considering that the weather is warm. You decide to walk back to the back room to think. Giving it some thought, Sunghoon’s figure reminded you of the guy you saw last night. As if you’re in a trance, you’re piecing together the high possibility that it was him last night. You didn’t want to think about it. Recounting the fear that it gave you.
Yeonjun comes to check up on you. He’s been calling your name but he didn’t hear any answer. “Y/n-nie, hellooooo? Are you there?”, Still no response. So he resorts to having to shake you and you’re brought out of your thoughts. His eyes look over you to examine you. “I’m fine, Jun. Don’t worry, I was thinking about something. But what’s up?”. You say nonchalantly.
Shaking his head side to side. “You know y/n, you’re really bad at lying. I’ll ask you about it later. Right now, I need to know if we have these orders ready or not.” Taking them from him, you nod your head yes. “They’re on the shelf in the back of the store. If they’re not there, then it’ll be on one of the shelves on display! Lemme know if you can’t find them.”
With that, he finds them with ease and you go back to work. The work distracts you from these thoughts. And the rest of the day goes smoothly. Instead of closing up by yourself, you’re closing tonight with all of them. Earlier in the day with your interaction with Sunghoon, all of them saw it. They weren’t going to pretend that it wasn’t cute or sweet of him to give you the flowers. It’s not often that someone buys you flowers from your shop and gives it to you. It is also not often that someone new moves into town.
So they’ll take their chances to tease you. That is until you silence them by informing them of your first encounter. And just as you had predicted, they’d all agree that you wouldn’t close alone again. They’re all a bit on edge when they exit the store. It worries them and you. Somehow after a lot of convincing and reassuring that you’d call or text them when you get home. All of them go their own way but for one, that one being Soobin.
You know that there’s no way you’re going to get him to go home without walking you home first. So you don’t say anything as you start walking home and he trails behind you. The silence between y’all is comfortable. On the way, your head finds itself laying on his shoulder. He knows that you weren’t going to say it but you were scared of it happening again. When you finally reach the front door, you thank him with a hug and bid him a safe walk home. Taking out your phone, you text the group-chat that you got home safely.
The rest of the week passes by without any more meetings with Sunghoon. However, you run into him on your weekly run for groceries. When you spot him, you try to avoid him and question if it’d be better to come back later. You already walked here. So you’re going to get what you need and leave.
Everything about the experience so far has been a success. It doesn’t seem that he’s seen you, which gives you more confidence that this trip will be a breeze. Right when you think you’ve succeeded, you accidentally enter the wrong aisle. The wrong aisle where he’s searching for something and you freeze. You don’t mean to stare, but it’s quite hard when he’s handsome — and you know of course, the man who almost injured you. Only then does he see you.
“Oh hey there, y/n!” He takes a quick glance back at the shelf and finds what he was looking for. Putting that into his basket, he makes his way to you. You shyly wave back and make your exit. Hastily grabbing your last items into your basket and paying. It is just your luck that you parked next to his car. As you load things into your trunk, he’s starting packing his bags into his trunk too. Feeling a little bit bad about not making small talk earlier, you decide to help him. He attempts to wave off your help since it’s hot out and he’s sure you’d much rather be elsewhere. But you insist and manage to make small talk.
Asking about what he’s making with all of these things as they look like a lot for one person. To which responds that his friends are coming over to visit. You can’t help but left out an ‘awww’ noise and wish him well. Right before you unlock your car, Sunghoon ever so subtly invites you to the little get-together. You’re about to decline because it’d be weird first off. However, you think about it. The only way you would go is if you weren’t alone. If he’s inviting you to a dinner with his friends, it should only be fair that you get to bring your friends too.
So you pose the question to him, “If you’re okay with my friends tagging along?”, you’re expecting a no due to the long silence. But he responds with “Sure, why not? The more the merrier and I actually think I bought way too much food. Here’s my number and I’ll text you more details!”. Now, you both have each other’s phone numbers.
On the drive home, you can’t help but think he’s odd for saying yes. You still haven’t figured out how to confirm your suspicions. Maybe, it’ll do good to ask at the end of the get-together. Perhaps, maybe you were wrong about him? Recalling that night, he looked confused after what he did. Your fear was heightened so much that it overrode the other possibilities that could have existed.
You learn more about Sunghoon through text message conversations. Basic things like his birthday, his hobbies, where he was before, and about his friends. It was actually kind of cute. He shared pictures of them together that way you have some idea about who was who. It reminded you of your relationship with the boys. He learned more about you and them too.
When you told them about you run in Sunghoon, they were nervous that another incident had happened. To their surprise, you semi-excitedly told them about this gathering.
“I might have accidentally invited y’all to come with me. I hope you don’t mind” Looking up to them, your eyes are pleading. “I didn’t want to go alone and plus there’s going to be free food!”
“Free food? Say less! Let’s do it, plus it’d be fun to meet new people”, Beomgyu speaks up. “I’ve been dying for new friends. No offense to you, Yeonjun, but it’d be cool to have more friends our age.” Gyu continues. It earns him a headlock & noogie from Yeonjun. Everyone laughs and is on board. It relieves you because oh boy, they could be so unpredictable sometimes. If anything, it makes you more eager to go now.
They won’t say anything to you but they can tell you’re ever so slightly glowing. It’s a bit shocking to them that it appears that your distress from Sunghoon has dissipated. Nonetheless, they’re all wary of Sunghoon.
- small time skip to day of the get together -
Sunghoon had asked for your help, that meant you came in earlier before the others. Happily agreeing because you had brought over some flowers and treats you had made for the party. You didn’t want to come to the party empty handed. Plus, talking to Sunghoon has been fun lately. The thrill of getting to know someone new.
Arriving at his place, you were greeted with his dog begging for your attention. Along with, of course, Sunghoon’s beautiful face. He was still in his pajamas but my goodness, he looked so good. “Ah, thank you for the flowers! They look lovely but not as much as you”, his hands grab the flowers from you and finally meet your eyes. The comment took you by surprise. “Thanks”, you chuckle. “Didn’t know that you were quite the sweet talker around here”
Sunghoon is quick to wave his hands back and forth, “I’m not, but you do look prettier than the flowers themselves. No offense to the flowers or anything”
“Thank you and none taken! Now come on, let’s get cooking!” And with that being said, you start cooking all sorts of things. His music is playing in the background and everything is going a lot smoother than you expected it to be. The time passes by and before you two know it, his & your friends have arrived.
It’s really awkward at first until everyone is eating and getting to know each other. After eating, it’s board game time. Somehow it slipped your mind how competitive Yeonjun and Beomgyu were. To be fair, you and the boys haven’t had time to have a game night recently. And putting them with a larger group of competitive people, you already know how chaotic it’ll be. Especially with Sunoo and Ni-ki. You sit and watch as it unfolds.
It‘s your own little entertainment show with the way they’re all seriously playing uno. They’re playing like their life depends on it. No mercy and it’s endless screaming from each other. Claiming that someone didn’t say ‘uno’ after having one card or that they shouted it before the other. If someone had heard them, they’d think that a fight was going on.
At the end of that one of the rounds, you decide to wash the dishes. As soon as Hoon noticed, he instantly mirrored your actions. What type of host would he be to have his guest clean up? A bad one, that’s what. Besides, he didn’t mind. He’s been growing to enjoy being around you. So are you but it’s still too early.
He ends up washing the dishes while you dry them. Setting them aside for now until he tells you where they go. You two talk about how funny it is that your friends get along well. Both of you assumed it was going to be too awkward. The topic of planning more events together came up. You surely weren’t opposed to it and sure that the other boys would love it. Solaris square is filled with older adults and families. So it’s nice to see adults around your age.
The boys and everyone else was outside. Playing yet another game. Leaving you two alone and felt like it was perfect timing to ask him. Your level of courage rose up and clearing your throat while maintaining eye contact with him.
“Sunghoon. Tell me, do you have magical powers? More specifically, ice ones?”
His eyes grew in size. Backing away from you and hands shaking. He hadn’t really told anyone. He was scared of himself and hurting someone accidentally. Sunghoon wondered if you figured that he was the one behind that incident.
“It’s okay if you don’t want to admit it but I have something to show you” Grabbing the flowers from earlier, you demonstrated your powers like you did for the boys. It was crazy to do this but maybe it’d help him feel like he’s not alone.
If you remember correctly, you were the same. Finding out that you had a supernatural power and all. You didn’t know anything about it and how powerful it could be.
A deep breath came in and out of him. “I do, y/n. Please know that I didn’t know I had them until a few months ago, and if you haven’t already figured it out. I’m the one who shot that icicle that one night. I was frustrated and it just came out of my hands. I’m really really sorry. I hope you can forgive me.” A shaky breath follows after his confession.
“I would tell you it’s okay but I forgive, I suppose. After getting to know you more, you don’t seem like someone who would kill me. Please don’t make me regret saying that”, Letting out a nervous chuckle.
“Anyhow, now you know about my powers and I know about yours. Your secret is safe with me if you do the same with mine.”
“Of course, y/n. Thanks again. I’m trying to learn more about my powers and what I could do with mine”, He places a finger on his chin tapping it.A couple seconds pass by. “Hopefully, it’ll be as creative as yours. Running a flower shop. It’s creative and pretty clever too.”
You can only react to hearing that by shooting finger guns at him. Along with wearing a smirk, you know it’s creative and clever.
The day ends with everyone saying goodbye. Exchanging contact numbers and hugs. This would be a day that goes down in the books. Believe it or not, they all almost convinced Sunghoon to hold an impromptu sleepover at his place.
Once you changed into comfortable clothes, you were left thinking about how today went. You finally did it. A little smile on your face before drifting off to sleep. Dreaming about the future of your now larger friend group and the future in general.
Sunghoon drops by more often at your shop. Instead of the boys bringing you breakfast, he’s the one who does it now. Is it really Yeonjun or the others without trying to beat him in doing it? They all joke that he’s stealing their job and whine about it. But they also know that you’re starting to prefer him dropping it off for you than them.
You and Hoon have gotten closer over the time span of a few months. Y’all aren’t dating (yet). He’s still getting used to living here and you’re busy with your store. However, whenever you two hang out (read as dates), the affinity you two hold for each other increases.
A few dates are spent catching up. The others are spent helping him learn about his powers and controlling them.
“Hoon, you can’t be shy about using them. Be confident and blast them!”
“But what if I hurt you? Or hurt something else?”
“We’re in the middle of fucking nowhere. And you can do it. I believe in you!” You pump your arms up and down. Yelling encouraging comments at him until ice shoots out of him. It amazes you every time he does. The progress might be slow but it’s still progress.
“How was that one??” He looks at you for any type of reaction. “It could be better, to be honest.” You deadpan at him.
“Come on! You’re being too mean.” Shaking your head no. “I’m really not. I know you can do better! When you’re better at them, then you can thank me then. For now, let’s practice it again”
—–
More time passes by and he’s got the hang of it. Hoon can build and shape the ice now. Before you know it, he’s working on ice-sculpting. You’ve never seen him so concentrated something before.
Sunghoon makes you look away when he’s working on it. So whenever you two are hanging out, you’re doing your own thing while he is at work with it. Saying that it’s something really special and a surprise for you. As a major thanks for sticking around with him and helping him out when he didn’t know who to talk to.
It keeps you waiting but you know it’ll be worth the wait. And so you wait. You are proven correct when he finally reveals it to you. It took super long for him to perfect because of the additional coloring and getting the details from Soobin and the others. He won’t tell you this but he was quite nervous to get their help. They’re all kind to him but man are they scary when he approaches them. Especially Yeonjun.
The day of the reveal happens at the beginning of one day. Going to open up your store, Taehyun tells that there’s something and someone waiting for you. Walking in puzzled, you see Sunghoon standing next to a freezer. He tells you to open it.
Your jaw drops and speechless for a few good minutes. There’s no way. It’s so stunning. Even down to the details, it’s practically perfect. Inside the freezer is an ice sculpture of you holding the bouquet he gave you.
“You know how flowers grow and lean towards the sun. Well you’re like my sun and I couldn’t help but bloom into you.” If you weren’t already swooning super hard for him, you were absolutely losing it right now even more. “If you couldn’t already tell, this is my way of telling you that I like you. A lot actually. So what do you say? Will you be mine?”
“Sunghoon. I cannot believe you did all of this. You even got the flowers right and gosh I love this so much”, you make your way to him and kiss him on the cheek.
“To answer your question, yes. Of course! I would be lying if I said that I didn’t like you. I like you a lot too.”
After saying that, your friends and his friends pop out. They holler and cheer for you two finally getting together. Not to mention, some of them even bet on when Hoon was going to do it.
- time skip to years later -
You still run your flower shop and he nows run his little ice-sculpting business. Over the years, you two to a certain extent run a business together. Usually for events and weddings. Taking care of the floral arrangements as he takes care of building the sculpture(s).
It’s a bit strange but you two make it work. Sometimes, you’ll even work with Hoon to create one-of-a-kind pieces; how? by adding your flowers in the artwork.
Who knew a flower shop owner and an ice-making boy would end up together?
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Please forgive me for the quick ending 😭 I was running out of creative juices and it was late! Nonetheless, thank you so much for reading this! I hope you enjoyed it and even if you didn’t thanks for reading.
Please leave feedback! Let it be constructive criticism b/c I know I’m not the best when it comes writing (but I also am writing for fun, so please don’t break my heart). Also reblog, leave feedback through a note or send an ask if you liked it!

Kim Sunoo was an unfortunate lad.
"I want the world to be doomed, doom us all!" he shouted at the top of his lungs, his drunken state making his words sound slurred, but it was clear enough for you to understand. You, who listened to his every word while sitting on your sofa. You, the very embodiment of doom, felt a spark of passion at his words.
The desperateness in his tone amuses you, and the anger and frustration are almost strong enough for you to taste, the glass filled with well-aged wine long forgotten in your hands as you closed your eyes, opening them when you've materialized in front of the boy who wished for doom.
Sunoo stared at you in pure shock, his drunken state making his steps a tad bit more disoriented, which caused him to fall down as he stepped away from you.
"Did you," The boy swallowed in an attempt to moisture his dried throat. "Did you just appear out of nowhere, or did I have one drink too many?" His second question was more so directed to himself, but you heard both nonetheless.
You observe the young man for a moment, his question has no value to your plan whatsoever, but you decided to satisfy him with an answer since you were in a good mood. "Both."
His panicked actions increase at your words, and a small smirk decorates your face. You wordlessly cast a stun spell upon the student and took a measured step toward him.
"Hello Kim Sunoo, I am doom. and I'm here to help you bring doom to the world."
The university student holds a cup of hot chocolate in his hand, cautiously stealing glances at the deity in his living room. You had a rather bored expression masking your face while Sunoo's remains paled with worry.
Okay, so I have basically summoned a god whose only job is to create doom, and now I got 100 days to accept that, or else I'll lose something dear to me...Kim Sunoo, what have you done?
"huh, I like the way you summed it up. A small side note, though, I am not a god. I am doom itself; I work for the gods and am created by them." Sunoo gasps at your words. You don't even need to read his mind to know what he's thinking next.
"Yes, I can read minds. It's quite a basic ability of ours." his eyes sparkle with curiosity, and you sigh, contemplating whether you will give the young man what he wants or leave him in the dark.
"As much as I don't even want to explain further about my abilities, you must remember one thing before I go." your already cold gaze hardens into an icy one.
Within a hundred days, you must wish for doom. If you refuse to, doom will be served to the one most precious to you.
The moment the aching feeling and your echoing voice fade out of Sunoo's mind, you are gone from his vision, too.
The pink-haired boy breathed out a shaky breath in a dilemma and laid down in bed for a restless night. All he could think of was how he was supposed to clean the mess he made out of one drunken mistake. Curse his alcohol tolerance.
The next morning, all that remained was a self-deprived first-year student. No one suspected anything.
"Say, Riki, if you were to somehow create a big mess and now you have to choose between a decision that could destroy one or everyone's life," Sunoo's eyes flicker up from his second Frappuccino, "What would you choose?" Riki's lips form a straight line, a silence erupts, and the older amongst the two almost feel nervous until his younger friend bursts with loud laughter.
"Dude, I have been living like that all this time! Obviously, I choose to only annoy you into madness, don't really care about others", Sunoo rolls his eyes at Riki's words. His internal dilemma distracts him from his friend's platonic confession. The Japanese high schooler notices the oddness in the Fine Arts major and arches his brow in question.
"You know, if you're really serious about finding an answer, why not try asking Jungwon?" Riki offers, trying hard to maintain his nonchalant face, although he will definitely ask senior later on how the conversation went. Sunoo pouts his lips in thought; won't Jungwon ask too many questions? The agreement with…well…miss Doom was to not enclose this information to anyone, but will the first-year be able to keep his lips sealed in front of his beloved and wise best friend since childhood? He is not certain.
"I will try." He eventually promises Riki. And quickly after, the two emerge into a friendly banter about the amount of money Riki has to spend on a computer game.
You walk down the grim corridors of the hospital towards your destination; the number of his hospital room is already imprinted in your mind by now. The hall lights start to flicker on and off as you walk past them, and right before you open the door, a loud clatter can be heard behind you.
"Hello, little messenger," your assigned god greets you. You huff at the nickname but sit beside him nonetheless. He has taken the form of a young adult not much older than your own form. His skin is pale, and his features are objectively good-looking, despite the hue of unwellness painted all over it.
"Has your other form faded so quickly?" You ask a tad bit more quietly; your heart aches a little when thinking of the little girl. He nods, "She was too young to fight the illness she was diagnosed with, but I am glad the body can finally find its peace. This new body isn't that far from the dire situation of the previous one, but I think it is enough for my current project."
"What project is it?" You ask; your eyes naturally end up looking at the small flower pot, it was filled with fertilizer, but there was no bud in sight. Your mentor smiles at the spark of curiosity in your eyes, making a dimple dent his cheek. "A secret, for now," you give him a side-eye for keeping you curious.
"Also, you can call my new form Sunghoon; the name of this man is Park Sunghoon. Make sure to use it well. I enjoy pretty names."
Sunoo waits for the last drop of instant espresso to drop into his paper cup, his left foot tapping impatiently on the tiled floor of his previous high school grounds. A few female students pass by and greet their temporally Arts and Crafts teacher with excitement, and the student-teacher returns with equal enthusiasm.
The moment the students are out of sight, the corners of the pink-haired boy turn downwards again, reminded of his deal with miss Doom.
He notices the flickering of the corridor lights and takes a few deep breaths before turning around, eyes meeting yours with slight hesitation. Speaking of the wait, no, she can hear me.
You grin ever so slightly, the human surely had an interesting thought process, but you were here with a goal in mind. "Have you thought of specifying your wish yet?" Your question was just a formality because you know he has not been able to think of anything else but that one encounter with you.
"I just, really regret making that wish. Is there no way I can? I don't know, is there a loophole or something?", Sunoo looks at you with brown eyes filled with hope; his desperation to undo his mistake is clear. It switches something within you, and before you have fully thought it through, the two of you are standing amidst a busy street. Citizens were all over the place, most distracted by one another or their cell phones, yet no one seemed to be even close to bumping into miss Doom.
"I want you to understand what I am and what I do," you said; the tension within you builds up, and you slowly turn around, looking at a car crash in motion. Sunoo gasps once again, running directly towards the incident to help out, silently expressing his relief at seeing the minor injuries of the people involved. He looks back at you and sees your hesitant figure still on the sidewalk. He notices the small weltering leaves of the sidewalk bushes and looks up into glossy and pained eyes.
After the ambulance has arrived and the curious souls left the scene, Sunoo and you end up at a café a few blocks away. He watches you stare at your cup of warm Americano in silence, and he contemplates whether he should be the first to speak.
"What you just saw, those things happen all around me," you start off, eyes still trained on the beverage. "And they will continue to happen because I exist to feed doom into the world." The Arts Major isn't sure what he should say, so he remains quiet, his lips pressed tightly together.
"If you want to stop the world from being doomed, you have to prevent doom from continuing" you finally look the first-year in the eyes, and his breath is stuck in his throat at sight. "Love me, Kim Sunoo. Love me, and choose me once the final countdown starts"; the pink-haired boy is speechless at a lot of things: 1. There is a way out, 2. He is able to save both the world and his loved ones, and 3. He can only achieve those two things by loving you to kill you.
And the boy gulps because killing doom doesn't sound all that evil. But right now, while you offer him this way out, he doesn't feel like he is looking at the embodiment of doom at all. He feels like he is looking at a young woman who has suffered an unfair fate instead. A young woman whose life will end by being loved.
How cruel.
Jungwon comes home to a dim-lot house, his best friend lying upside down on their couch with worry written all over his face. The senior stares at sight for a few seconds before deciding he needs some water before engaging with his friend's drama. He returns a minute later, sitting down at his designated seat on their couch, crossing his legs and sipping on his mochaccino. "You can start," he says nonchalantly, not even surprised his friend shoots up from his upside-down pose. Said friend shoots Jungwon a glare, "Yah, do you know how long I waited for you? Why are you home so late anyway", Sunoo starts rambling, and Jungwon just replies with 'club meetings' but lets the Arts Major continue his rambling.
"—and there is this girl who I recently met who is driving me insane, she –"girl? Jungwon straightens in his seat; well, that is certainly entertaining. "And you know how I've never really dated because I just didn't feel so interested…".
"Are you interested in her?", Jungwon asks; he takes another sip while Sunoo pouts; he is deep in his thoughts. "I do am curious about her, but I'm not sure if that's because I'm into her—How do you know you're into someone anyway?", Sunoo stops talking and stares at his friend, who at this point didn't think he was finished talking yet. The silence passes for a few seconds, but Jungwon notices the desperate glister in the pink-haired boy's eyes and places down his drink.
"Do you think of her often"
"Yes," and the difficult situation the two of us are involved in.
"Do you want to see her again?"
"…yeah", I will have to. There are too many things we have to figure out.
"Do you think she is pretty?"
Sunoo pauses. He has never really thought about your appearance, too occupied by the words you've said. "I guess…so?".
"Do you want to see her smile again?"
"I…uh… I've never seen her smile" she isn't exactly one to enjoy things.
"Then, do you want to make her smile?", Sunoo freezes, and the memory of your eyes when he looked for you at the cross-section recalls itself. He vividly re-visualizes the scene before him, how you looked so in pain. How the world surrounding you was slowly weltering, and how you looked at him as if you were the one who needed saving.
The sadness in your eyes felt indescribable. It was as if you've tried to hide behind a mask of indifference whenever your presence caused doom, but you couldn't. He remembers your hesitating hands, clenched in fists to prevent yourself from doing things you might regret. She is suffering, too.
"Hello? Hyung, it wasn't that deep of a question", The senior waves his hands before the university student's eyes, his boba pearl eyes met with the chocolate ones of his friend.
"I do," he answers, and the determination is settled. The least I can do for her is make the remainder of her days happy days.
The next time Sunoo met miss Doom was three days after their last encounter; by that time, he still looked like an exhausted student, but there was a sparkle of hope in his eyes that the god's messenger could not place. You still clearly remember the suffering in his eyes when you told him about his deadline, but it seems that he has made a steadfast decision. You sit down opposing the student and notice colorful threads in the pink-haired boy's hands.
"What is that?" you ask, making a clear effort not to seem too curious. Sunoo's eyes brighten (even more, if possible), and he reaches out for your hand. You stare at him in suspicion, but a human can't harm you, especially one like him, so you place your hand in his. His hands moved fast, and before you knew it, a hand-made bracelet decorated your wrist. Sunoo shows you a similarly designed bracelet with pride, and you bite back a smile. How cheesy, couple bracelets.
"I've decided that if I have to love you to save my loved ones, I will do my best to make you the happiest girlfriend ever," he says after you finished 'secretly' admiring his handy work. You look at him with your signature raised brow, but he smiles so sweetly at you that you almost want to nod in response. A scoff comes out of you, paired with a 'whatever, human.'
Your boyfriend (?) starts rambling about all the date ideas he has, and you absentmindedly look at the bracelet again. It was made of linen thread, carefully woven into a pattern to strengthen the fragile material. In a way, it was an insignificant gift that shouldn't impact you as much as it did. But to you, who was only a pawn of the gods, this was your very first gift, and it was beautiful in your eyes.
"Sunoo," you interrupt the boy, his stop is immediate, and he blinks at you with waiting eyes.
"Thank you," you whisper.
"No problem at all, miss Doom," he says, and it was the first time you noticed how bright the boy was. The same boy who wished for doom and the same boy who will save the world by loving doom herself.
"Miss Doom?", Sunoo peaks from behind his canvas, looking at Doom posing (partially unwillingly) for his art assignment. You look at him with a nod of your head, telling him to go on.
"Will it be okay if I introduce you to my friends tonight?" the pink hues on the boy's cheeks would have been undetectable for any normal person, but your supernatural senses noticed them with ease, and you smiled at the adorable sight. "I'd love to."
"It will only be Jungwon and Riki; they are still high schoolers but very dear to me despite the age difference. Riki is kind of mischievous so you can straight up tell me if he is too much. And Jungwon is really sharp, so don't say too much, but also… don't say too little. Oh, and we have to come up with a love story! Since we can't tell them how we actually met", Sunoo explains at his usual pace; you nod at his words and confirm that you think the same.
"What about I work at the hobby shop you often go to for art materials?" you suggest after a few moments of thoughtful silence. Sunoo reacts in excitement, "And after seeing you a few times, I managed to talk to you, and it flowed so well that I asked you out?", Sunoo springs up, filled with liveliness; you giggle at how open the pink-haired boy is with his emotions, and tease him with amusement in your voice.
"Are you sure they'd believe you if you tell them you asked me out?" the Arts Major's smile wavers for a second, and seconds later, he dips his head ever so slightly to try and hide his infamous pout. "…Fine, you asked me out", he barely manages to push past his lips.
"That's more like it."
"Oh, and what should I call you? I can't really call you miss Doom in front of them… how about noona?" your confident façade flatters at the sound of his informal speech.
"You can call me Y/N, Sunoo-ah," Sunoo barely stops himself from drawing the wrong line by surprise.
The two of you reassume your previous positions, trying to hide your smiles with coughs and your fluttering hearts with distracted eyes. The lights still flicker in your presence, and Sunoo spilled a can of pink paint all over the floor, but none of these things matter.
Because you were together in this mess.
The Kim-Yang residence was nothing new to you since your first encounter with the Kim of the residence was at this very place, yet it never occurred to you to observe the surrounding.
The place was in a nice, modern, meets history neighborhood with mostly families living throughout the street. You notice several artworks painted on the stone walls and remembered Sunoo mentioning how several neighbors asked for him to decorate their outer walls. It gave the street a nice ambiance that the other streets lacked. The most remarkable artwork was painted on Sunoo's own house.
A fox and sheep, predator and prey, embracing one another amidst a forest of flowers. It was a sign of peace, and it was lovable, just like the creator.
You knock thrice before stepping back, afraid you'd be straight in the opener's personal space if you stayed where you were. Today, you tried extra hard to keep your powers in control, even asking Sunghoon a small favor of granting you a suppression spell. It worked partially, lessening the radius and severity of the doom you brought, but one can never be too careful.
A young, feline-eyed boy opened the door for you, and you observed his wide-shouldered frame with curiosity. You knew he was Yang Jungwon, both by given descriptions of Sunoo and because you simply knew everyone who walked the streets of this world. Yang Jungwon gave you a semi-welcoming smile, and there were no above-normal abilities needed to know he was rather skeptical about you. Nonetheless, you presented your best smile and politely greeted the housemate of your 'boyfriend.'
"Hi, I'm Y/N; nice to meet you!" you cringed at the high-pitched nervous tone of your voice, but then, you never really needed to impress anyone before. Jungwon seemed to ease up because of your introduction and gave you a somewhat more genuine smile, "Jungwon, welcome Y/N noona, please come in," and the gap between the door and doorframe widened.
If the outside of the Kim-Yang residence was remarkable because of its strong presence yet gentle meaning, the inside was exceptional due to its comforting atmosphere with contrasting pieces of flamboyant and minimalism. It was clear that two entirely different characters took care of the same home; the sight was endearing.
"Sunoo is still getting ready, but Riki is already in the living room. If you'd like to introduce yourself already?" the boy met your eyes with an expecting gaze, but his voice held a gentleness to not push you either.
"I'd like to wait with you guys," you said, receiving a nod from Jungwon, who continued to walk to what you presumed to be the living room. Unbeknownst to the senior high schooler, his 'chic' façade meant nothing to you; the moment you noticed his walk reminded you of a cute baby pinguin. He was cute, just like his housemate.
Nishimura Riki, a Japanese teenager who moved to Seoul because of his honor's program specialized in dance, greeted you excitedly, a hint of mischief behind his grin. He was a lot taller than the house owners, but his attitude and energy levels clearly show who the maknae between the three was. After a short back-and-forth of introduction, the honor student didn't waste time getting to the main point of the evening. He asked you straight away how the two of you got together.
"I think there is no way to avoid that question, but shall we let my girlfriend sit and eat before you bombard her with all your questions?" you feel his arms wrap around your waist, and your chin rest on your shoulder. It was a loving position, convincing you that Sunoo could have easily become an actor if he wanted to.
The remaining of the evening was refreshing, a moment you've never experienced before. The three friends had an energetic dynamic, with Sunoo and Nishimura Riki constantly at each other's throats and Yang Jungwon carrying the rationality of the group; the balance was somewhat perfect.
You also learned that Jungwon is interested in food science right after you complimented the food, which he casually admitted was made by him. Riki hasn't decided yet, but the two older ones were adamant that he does something dance-related in the end.
The evening ended with Jungwon insisting on bringing Riki home, which the latter found to be quite the bummer. However, it did gift Sunoo and you some time to talk things through, and after what you've witnessed from his relationships, this was highly needed.
"Y/N noona, I really enjoyed hanging out with you today! I hope that we will be able to hang out again after my exams, maybe with Sunoo" of course, the youngest couldn't resist throwing in a teasing comment for the eldest to fume about. Sunoo was quick to react, and the pair released another quarrel in front of you and Jungwon.
"Sunoo is very social, but he truly cares and loves deeply when it comes to his people," the boy beside you spoke up. You looked at him with widened eyes, surprised at the romantic sentiment about his friend he shared with you. But the fact itself wasn't a surprise at all. You knew very well how much Sunoo loved his family and friends, enough to try and love someone so undeserving of love like yourself.
"He does," you say somewhat quietly, although the confirmation wasn't needed. Jungwon turns to look at you, and the seriousness from the beginning of the evening returns in full force.
"So love him properly, or leave him alone" if you weren't the paragon of doom, you'd surely experience a chill down your spine by the way he spoke in such an icy tone; it was impressive for such a young soul.
"I will', and you left your ambiguous answer at that. Jungwon might think he is protecting his friend by pushing danger away, but by now, his dear friend has already made a deal with the danger to protect the younger friends. Jungwon didn't say much after that, opting to drag the youngest out of the little debate with his housemate and waving said housemate and you a quick goodbye.
Sunoo turned to look at you with a smile, and you didn't know what expression you returned to the pink-haired boy, but it satisfied him enough to widen his smile. "Your friends seem to buy our act," you wanted to say, but instead, a strong emotion came over you along with its owner's thought: she is devastatingly beautiful tonight.
It froze you.
There, in the dark moonlit winter night,
Kim Sunoo, who knew what you were,
Kim Sunoo, who knew what you did,
Kim Sunoo, who thought you were beautiful.
"Y/N," I have to tell her now.
Devastatingly…beautiful?
"Y/N," she's not listening.
How could I be beautiful, dear Sunoo?
"…Y/N", why is she tearing up?
When all I do is bring doom to people you love?
"Y/N!" oh no, she is crying…
"Don't." your tone was nowhere near as commanding or impactful as hoped for. Sunoo doesn't say anything. The two of you stay in the silent winter air for an everlasting moment, the tension not wavering for even a bit.
You can stop my voice from speaking the words I want you to hear, Y/N. Sunoo's thoughts ring loud in your head, and no matter how much you try to cancel them, he is persistent in sending them to you.
But it won't change what I think or what I feel. Please don't say the words; please don't.
Y/N.
"Sunoo, do not say things you do not mean."
I love you, "with all my heart," and I'm sorry it will be you.
You look up at the boy with pain, worry, and gratitude. His eyes are filled with the same dreamlike sparkles since the day he decided to try and love you genuinely.
"Thank you, and I'm sorry," those were the only words you could say to him at that moment. But he understood them well and held your face to lock your lips together, the taste of your tears and his was salty, but they love the two of you shared was sweet despite it.
Your heart started ringing with a sound, and your own voice spoke within you: I can't leave him, Jungwon. Not yet. But I will love him, properly. It was the first thought you had of your own.
Miles away, on a hospital bed, Sunghoon stared out of his window with a faint smile on his lips. His little pot is bearing a small sprout, a healthy bright green. A frozen heart has finally started blooming.
The two months that followed gave the sprout enough time to grow into a steady flower. Some days, Sunghoon watched it spurt in its growth, some other days, a few leaves felt drier than others, but the flower never grew limp.
Sunoo received the full power to drag his Doom to every date place he had planned, excitement oozing from every bit of the boy's body.
"Do you think we should take a photo on top of the Ferris wheel?" the Arts Major asked, completely neglecting the fact that he doesn't do well with heights. You look at him with worry in your eyes.
"I don't know, it's so high up that if my powers take over, we are in some deep trouble," you bit your lip, feeling sorry that even a simple Ferris wheel ride wasn't something you could share with Sunoo. You feel your boyfriend's soft palms grabbing your face, and you look up into his honey brown eyes.
"It's okay, we can go to the teacups! Honestly, I could wrap you in bubble wrap if that is any better" you smile at his silly idea, but let him take your hand and lead you into the kid segment of the amusement park without a doubt.
To you, Sunoo was a constant light that tries hard to pry in your darkness. He was a source of comfort, excitement, and young happiness you've never been allowed to experience before.
A strange feeling comes over you as you wait for the cotton candy to be made into a duck like the pink-haired requested. It was strange in the way that instead of making you stronger, the power was damping your abilities. Before you could fully access the situation, you drop to the ground. Sunghoon.
One moment, Sunoo was happily looking at your figure, buying him cotton candy, and the next, he is in a hospital room, all frozen in place.
Although he doesn't like to admit it, the feeling of being stunned is nothing new, so he knows exactly what is happening.
The room was badly lit by the cloudy weather, and only one bed was occupied by a tall, pale man with dark locks.
"Kim Sunoo, we finally meet" the man greets you; his attitude and appearance match in no way. He looked unwell, but the power around him was undeniable. Seeing how this entity took an interest in Sunoo, it must be Y/N's superior.
"Oh, you guys really are on a first name basis? Doom cannot have another name besides what she's made to cause, right?"
"Why did you make her doom?" Sunoo asks, the initial fear wearing off the moment you are mentioned. You never asked to be doom; you never asked for any of this.
"Because handing the role of doom to someone who will enjoy every second of it is basically handing power to a maniac. I'm more classy than that", did this deity just...look at their nails with indifference?
"I did, can you just...hold your judgy thoughts for a second and let me ask you what I wanted to ask you? I didn't piss off your girlfriend for nothing you know..."
Sunoo huffs, finding the man underwhelming in terms of elegance now and overwhelming in his rude attitude.
“Why did you wish for doom in the first place?”
The pink-haired boy is dumbfounded. It wasn’t necessary a question he hadn’t seen coming, but he simply never had the chance to prepare his answer, especially not his answer to a deity on that question.
“You cannot fool me with the excuse of an intoxicated mind, doom isn’t a messenger that goes to every drunken soul that cries over a bottle of soju.”
The human bites his lip, his fingers trembling slightly, there probably wasn’t much to confess because the deity must know everything already. But seeing his expectant posture, the deity wanted to hear Sunoo say it.
“Because the one I loved left me for another…just like my parents…because I felt like all love was untrue and the world deserved to be doomed,” Sunghoon nods at his words, acting like he didn’t already know.
“Do you still feel that way? Having met Doom, aka the very reason love stories break?”
“No.”
“Very well, you may go back to her.”
Sunghoon took good care of the little sprout. He changed the fertilizer often and watered the plant with top condition sunlight. He did his very best to give the remaining days of the flower a healthy stem, but the inevitable had to come, even for beings like Sunghoon.
He had to replace the flower, no matter what.
That same evening, you lay in Sunoo's arms. The two of you are staring at his ceiling, decorated with the lights of a sunset lamp you gave the boy for Christmas. You were feeling a bit hot, the feverish temperature of your skin rising with each second; it felt like burning when your skin came in contact with Sunoo's, but he was so warm, you didn't want to let go.
You knew very well why your body was acting more human by day, and it made you happy, yet your lover sad.
"I'm so sorry, Y/N," Sunoo was shaking with uncontrollable sadness while holding your burning body close to him.
"Kim Sunoo," you had to do your final job as Doom.
"Please don't, Y/N," Sunoo's cries grew louder, his tears falling onto your clothes as you looked at him as if he placed a sparkle of firework into the sky of this night.
"Will you make your wish?" you try to muster the courage to give him a tiny smile. Because Sunoo was the man you love, and the man you love cares for this world.
"Or will you sacrifice the one you love most?" enough to give up on his own happiness.
"You had 100 days to make a decision", enough to give up 100 precious days to fall in love with a creature like doom.
"Have you made that decision?" enough to succeed.
"Y/N, I can't; I am so sorry"; Sunoo sits upright, his legs dangling over his bed; you mimic his position.
"It's okay, Sunoo" you take his crying face in your hands and kiss his forehead with tenderness.
"Thank you for loving me," for loving me enough that letting me go is the biggest doom in your eyes.
Somewhere amidst the spring, decades (that's how Sunoo felt at least) after Doom has left Sunoo's side. The boy was still the same in most situations. He still went to university with his radiant smile and still bickered with Nishimura Riki whenever the two locked eyes. He still burnt his cooking, but it was okay.
To Sunoo, losing you was not a surprise, but it didn't make it any less painful. Therefore, he looks up at the sky, feeling the spring breeze of the night air comfort him when he thinks of you.
Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. But that's all right. Because every time he feels the pain in his chest, he knows he still loves you. In his hand lays a small folded letter with a daffodil stuck unto it.
Take care until I return, and miss me more everyday.
“You know, taking care means water and pot the plant, not keep it in a state of dehydration on the envelope…” an all to familiar voice speaks to him from behind, the Arts Major has never whipped his head around that fast.
He looks into your eyes and drop the letter, embracing you with streaks of hot tears running down his cheeks.
“You’re back. You’re here. You returned??”
You tighten his embrace with burning eyes, giving him a kiss on his shoulder while placing your chin on it. “I’m back and here to stay, Sunoo.”
“How?”
“Because I forgot to say it back. I love you, Kim Sunoo.”
“I love you, too. Y/N.”
A distance away, Sunghoon stands next to Yang Jungwon. The former human boy looking at his friend with a wide smile on his face.
“Do you not regret your decision, little sheep?”
“I don’t. And I never will,” Sunghoon observes the determined gaze in the boy’s eyes. “You enjoy love, don’t you?”, the question makes Jungwon raise a brow.
“I guess?”
“Be the messenger of Love.”
“Will I be called love as well?”
“No, just Yang Jungwon. I enjoy pretty names.”

The Boy
"What happens when you learn that the monster whom you feared your entire life was actually protecting you?"
Pairing: Lee Heeseung x Reader (GN)
Genre: Thriller, Suspense
Words: 1.8k+
Warnings: 13+ content, home invasion in later parts of the story
Synopsis: Nothing has terrified you more than the boy with the scary smile and rusty knife. He's painted your life in fear and paranoia. Just when you think you've gotten away from him, he comes to surprise you. The only way to make him go away is to face him. Will you be able to do it? Or will you allow him to continue his reign of terror?
Ever since you were a young child, you always saw a boy standing at the edge of your bed, holding a knife in his hand. Whenever you locked eyes with him, he would smile. Not a warm and comforting smile. A sadistic, evil-looking smile that would make your entire body freeze in fright. Once he knew you had noticed him, he would climb on top of you and stab the knife into your pillow, mere inches from your head and whisper in the most chilling manner, “Run.”
That was all it took for you to jump from your bed and dash into your parent’s bedroom. Seeing you shaking in fear, your mother would console you, assuring you that everything was alright and that you were safe. You would fall asleep in her arms, forcing your father to have to spend the night in your bedroom, but at least you didn’t have to see the boy again thereafter.
You didn’t see him every single night though. For some reason, he only appeared when your father was out working late. You assumed that he was afraid of him and hence waited for him to be away before appearing to torment you.
On the other hand, however, he wasn’t afraid of your mother. Whenever he scared you, your mother always seemed to be awake. She didn’t sleep until your father came home anyways. It confused you, but you were somewhat thankful that things were arranged that way.
As the years passed, he found different ways to frighten you. There was one time you got lost in the mall while shopping with your family. The boy appeared before you, same devilish grin with the knife raised by his face. “Run,” he whispered, watching you bolt down the aisle. Every corner you turned, the boy was right there. You were frantic, tears streaming down your face as you tried your best to evade him. It was almost miraculous when you rounded a corner and ran straight into your parents. After that, the boy was nowhere to be seen.
You were now nineteen, a grown adult, living all by yourself. The last time you had seen the boy was in high school, during a school dance. You were in an empty classroom with the boy who had asked you out. The second you took your eyes off your date, the boy appeared before you and chased you out of the school.
After you had graduated and moved out of your parents' house, your life took an unexpected but much welcomed turn of peace. For once you were able to walk down the street without having to look behind your shoulder every second. Your nights were filled with flawless sleep, with no uninvited guests to disturb you. It seemed you had finally gotten away from the mysterious boy.

13:34:02 OCTOBER 28, 2021
HALLOWEEN WAS RUINED BEFORE IT EVEN BEGAN.
There was a time when your city was dull. There was no thrill. No excitement. The closest thing you could get to a scare was being pulled over for speeding.
Until the missing persons cases started coming up.
At first, they went over everyone’s heads. As twisted as it sounded, a disappearance or two was of no concern. A couple of people crying couldn’t be heard over the masses.
Then it snowballed. Cases surged. People were going missing left and right. The mayor declared a citywide curfew, enforcing that people had to be in their homes before dark or they’d be fined. Mass panic arose, and people demanded answers from the police, who had nothing to say on the matter. It wasn’t that they were slacking on the case; rather, they had no idea what the hell was going on. People vanishing without a trace wasn’t exactly easy to get leads on.
[1:35]
"Papa's gonna kill me." You muttered, running through the dark, empty streets. It's way past your curfew, once again breaking your promise to your dad to stop working overtime during your part time job.
You've been running for a while, but at this point you don't even know what direction you were heading as the fog begins to thicken.
"What's wrong little one? Are you lost?" A voice asks darkly as the cold envelopes you, feeling goosebumps on your arms.
Trembling, you took a step back as you looked around the dark to see where the voice was coming from. And there it was, a dark silhouette of a man materializing from the white fog, moving closer and closer to where you stood.
"W-who goes there? Don't come any closer!" You warned, knuckles turning white as you gripped the hilt of the dagger latched on your belt. With a dark chuckle, he continues moving forward, completely unalarmed at all knowing that you're armed with weapon.
"How lovely seeing you again, my soulmate." Finally, he stops just a few meters away, pushing back the hood of his cloak that covered his head, letting it fall on his shoulders.
With furrowed brows and confusion on your face, you step back once more and unsheathed your dagger.
"What the hell are you talking about? And you better not give me vague answers." You demand, as if you even had the right to. With that, he laughed so menacingly, almost demonic.
Red flags everywhere, your instincts were telling you to run for your life. But your legs just won't move.
And as the moon finally peeked behind the dark, clouded sky, light shone just enough to reveal the man's face.
You felt a tug at your heart, whether in fear or sense of familiarity, you were unsure at this point.
That face, that handsome face of his, you felt like you've known him for a long time but you were sure this was your first encounter.
Grinning, he tilts his head at you.
"Remember me now, beautiful?" He asks though somehow you felt like he knew the answer. And that's when it struck you.
"Please don't take my papa away, sir!" You pleaded, crying your heart out as the cloaked man grew closer to you. Your father laid in your arms, pulse long gone and blood streaming from the back of his head.
For a moment the man was taken aback.
"Little girl, you could see me?" He asks, but you were too busy crying to answer. He already knew then, that he was destined to meet you. And so having piqued his interest, he striked a deal with you.
"I shall let your father live again, but in return.."
"I'll do anything, please!" You say desparately.
"When you come of age, You shall be my bride."
"So be it." You nod carelessly without even thinking. How naive.
And with that the deal was sealed, and he moves closer to whisper something in your ear. From then on, you are his soulmate, the only person in the world to ever know his biggest secret, his true name.
"It is I.." he trailed off.
"The Grim Reaper." You blurted out. He shakes his head with a tsk, the playful smile never leaving his lips.
Who would've thought death would have a smile so charming?
"Wrong. It's Sunghoon to you, sweetheart."

Su-Hyeok x Fem!Reader | 5.2k words
Warning/Rating: Fainting/Language/T
Premise: Five times you and Su-Hyeok correct people about your relationship status and one time you both just accept it.
Author’s Note: This is an AU fic set outside of the zombie world where you and Su-Hyeok are childhood friends (also neighbors!) but everyone mistakes you for a couple. I personally love the 5 + 1 prompts, so I wanted to challenge it myself. I don’t think I’ll get over AOUAD any time soon, or Su-Hyeok for that matter, so I’m pouring my love into writing for this franchise. Requests for other Su-Hyeok prompts are also welcomed! ♡
˚ ༘✶ ⋆。˚ ⁀➷1. Ms. Park
“Su-Hyeok, what do you think of Nam-Ra’s interpretation?”
Class 2-5 all turn their heads to the back, trying—but failing—to suppress their laughter, awaiting what kind of nonsense would spew from Su-Hyeok’s mouth this time around.
“I agree. She’s 100% correct.”
Some giggles slip through before Ms. Park silences them by holding her hand up.
“Great,” Ms. Park says sarcastically, with an air of teasing. “Now…just what do you agree with again?”
Su-Hyeok doesn’t even falter, replying with, “If she could be kind enough to repeat her response so that I can gather my thoughts more coherently….”
The whole class loses it right then and there.
His seat-mate further rubs salt into the wound by whispering between bouts of laughter, “Yah, did you even have any thoughts to begin with?” This earns him a glare, but he was too far gone to care.
Su-Hyeok grimaces, seeing the disappointment on Ms. Park’s face mixed with amusement as she gestures for Nam-Ra to recite her previous statement again. With the amount of times he acts up in the same manner on a regular basis, he’s surprised and grateful that she still allows him to step foot into class for lessons.
Nam-Ra rises once again, her chair creaking slightly, though that doesn’t wake you up from your nap next to her. Currently, you were turned away from the window, left elbow flat on the desk surface as a makeshift pillow.
“All of us have some sort of prejudice. We all have preconceptions about other people.”
“Precisely,” Ms. Park compliments. “Thank you, Nam-Ra, for saying that twice.” With her emphasis on the word, she fixes her stern gaze on Su-Hyeok, but her next words are the exact opposite. “Bare-Su, please pay more attention to my lesson during class time and less on staring at your girlfriend, Y/N.” She raises her eyebrows teasingly.

From what you can remember, Jungwon hasn’t always been like this. You’ve tried to sit down and pinpoint a date back to when this all started, but the best you could come up with was when he blew out your candle at your eleventh birthday party. That was the first and last time you had ever invited him over to your house.
