Everything listed below you can grab from any hardware store or even Amazon! You can use any lighter brown for the base, I just happened to have some leftover Behr that I decided to use. It's better if it's a chalk paint or a flat sheen though! The supplies I used: Kilz indoor primer Behr Vintage Pewter for the base (flat sheen) Rustoleum Aged Glaze Semi-stiff bristle brush for making the wood grain Brush to apply glaze Matte polyurethane 1. By using white wash, it helps to mute the undertones so you don’t get dark grain. Jennifer Beck on Instagram: "There are a lot of methods to get from point A to point B when staining wood. When I only want a sheer tint of color, I opt for toning. What is that? Toning is the process of adding colorant, either dye or pigmented stain into a top coat and then applying over an entire piece in order to subtly deepen the color. This works with oil and water-based products, but dont mix the two. If it's an oil topcoat, use oil stain. If its water based topcoat, use a water-based stain. Sometimes, as was the case with this door, I was able to use a damp brush and undiluted water-based stain to brush a light coat over the piece to create a tint.
