It’s a nuanced process that involves a lot of thought and patience. It takes practice to figure out how to get fantastic prints. 👉🏼 That’s why I’m sharing some of my favorite tips with you today! 🩵 Eco printing is a natural dye method that uses pressure and heat to directly transfer the image of a plant onto a substrate. 🌿 The plants are arranged on barriers & fabric that has been pretreated with mineral salt mordants. The fabric and plants then rolled, bundled, and steamed together to transfer the dye from within the plants to the fabric. Follow the techniques in Plant Dye Zine for the longest lasting prints that don’t wash out of the fabric. Order the book in print or digital via my website, rebeccadesnos.com. Other great leaves to print include sage, yarrow, parsley, mint & lemon balm. Any leaf that’s tender and moist is worth trying. It won’t work with dry, shiny leaves like eucalyptus or bay. It works beautifully with deeply pigmented flowers too!
