IKEA KURA hack to fit a queen bed below the lofted twin. We used 2x4s with a 2x2 affixed inside around the three sides of the queen that extend outward from under the bed, another 2x4 with 2x2 along the right side under the twin, & a 2x2 on top of & against the loft frame on the left side of the queen at the foot of the twin frame. Then we added a center support 2x2 down the middle, slats, & the mattress. It's a tight fit on the sides, but it works! Minwax classic oak stain was a great match! We decided on the Kura bed from IKEA but put a double bed underneath for reading bedtime stories. There isn't much headroom for adults but it's great for the kids. They LOVE it! I was also pleasantly surprised by the bedding at IKEA. These two duvets have different prints (polka dots for my daughter and trucks for my son) but the colors coordinate.
