Rhonda Kaiser | Gardening, Education & Design on Instagram: "Do You Want to Plant PAPERWHITES Directly in Your Garden? Here’s How To Make It Happen!…🌱 Follow these simple steps for gorgeous winter blooms: 1. Clear the area and dig a shallow hole, just deep enough to nestle the bulb in with the pointy end facing up. 2. Place bulbs close together. 3. Cover them with soil, leaving the tips just peeking out. 4. Water lightly to keep the soil just moist, then continue watering about once a week to maintain even moisture. That’s all there is to it! 🙌 In 5-6 weeks, you’ll be greeted with a stunning display of blooms that will last for 2-3 weeks.🌱 Want blooms all season long? Try SUCCESSION PLANTING—plant bulbs every two weeks for continuous flowers throughout the season! 🌱 New here? I’
Country Home on Instagram: "Rather than using a boring glass vase for flowers, Karin (@karinlidbeck) gathered a cluster of Victorian-era oil lamps (they’re abundant in vintage stores and antiques shops) for this centerpiece. “People usually pass them over,” Karin says, “but I love to use them as vases.” Two lamps hold water and poinsettias; the others are filled with kerosene and the wicks lit for a lovely glow. Tip #6: Vary the heights of the lamps by elevating some on thick cutting boards, books, or other objects. To extend the life of cut poinsettias, burn the ends of the stems before placing them in water. Partner them with snippings of cedar. We hope you enjoyed out festive florals series this week! Anya Lautenbach on Instagram: "WHEN TO PRUNE? ⬇️ 🧚🏻 Early Spring * Lots of useful content about hydrangeas is in my books. Link to books in my bio. EXTRA INFO ⬇️ 🧚🏻It’s recommended to start pruning in early Spring 🧚🏻Hydrangea arborescens and paniculata bloom on new wood so dormant pruning does not reduce blossoms. TOP TIP!!!⬇️ 🧚🏻If you cut your hydrangeas all the way back to the ground, your plants will produce less flowers, but they’ll be very large. 🧚🏻If you cut back 1/3 of the plant, your hydrangeas will produce more flowers and they will be smaller. I personally prefer smaller blooms on sturdier stems and I only cut back 1/3 of the plant. . . #hydrangea #hydrangeas #garden #gardeninglife #explorepage #gardening #pruning"
Stacy Ling | Flower Gardening for Beginners on Instagram: "I can’t imagine my cut flower garden without the following blooms (and here’s why!) 🌸Zinnias: These bright blooms are super easy to grow and cut-and-come-again, meaning more blooms every time I snip a stem. They thrive in the summer heat and add vibrant colors to my bouquets. 🌸Dahlias: From delicate pompons to dramatic dinner-plates, dahlias bring lots of elegance and variety. They need a bit more care but nothing unmanageable. Their stunning blooms are totally worth it. 🌸Snapdragons: With their tall, spiky blooms and delightful fragrance, snapdragons add vertical interest and charm. They bloom in spring and early summer, with a second flush in the fall. They are one of my favorites for a vase! 🌸Celosia: Talk about unique!
