stuff for artists

Every artist should know about Glaze. Fuck up the pixels of your art a little bit to protect it from AI.
Nightshade is from the same team and maybe even more important. It also fucks up the pixels a bit, with the goal of sabotaging generative AI.
Check if your art is in any major AI training sets

ok idk if it still lets non subscribers use it but adobe color is my favorite tool ever for figuring out color palettes
this book and this book were the BIBLES of my favorite professor. he basically retaught me to draw from the ground up. he was also insane and maybe senile.
while I'm at it it's embarassing how much of the college major that I paid for is contained in this book

reclaim your tech
NOTE: while cyberpunk culture may be my special interest, I try to only add links to this section if I think ANYONE is capable of using them. I also won't endorse any hacker sites that don't moderate their shit in some basic way or another. I'm not forcing my friends and followers to see nazi shit just to follow a cybersecurity tutorial.
privacy guides' list of actually private applications and sites
alternativeto. I mostly use it for finding open source applications
build a pi-hole and block all ads on your wifi
plug dashboard unfucker into the tampermonkey extension to unfuck your tumblr dash. the dash unfucker project has been retired because the creator refused to put their time, love, and care into a site that doesn't love its userbase back, but the code still works (for now). May we have some better options for social media for our community sometime soon.
google unlocked to uncensor google results. the easiest installation is using tampermonkey just like you did with dashboard unfucker, since the browser extension keeps getting taken down.
bulk crap uninstaller is a FOSS application for uninstalling programs. Yknow all those weird little folder remnants scattered through your hard drive from half-uninstaller programs? Yeah this program deals with those beautifully. Allows you to remove windows bloatware that windows itself won't let you remove. I don't have the Xbox game bar anymore. Also lets you do this with system files. So be careful.
O&O ShutUp10++ Is slightly different, but serves a similar function. Lets you toggle several settings that Windows has on by default that seriously risk your privacy. It shows recommended settings for most users so you don't make your computer actually super hard to use.
better than a vpn, use tor browser instead of incognito mode. it has a detailed explanation of how it works on the site.
a vpn is probably more practical for daily use. my go-to is Proton VPN. It's also good to use a VPN when you're using Tor, because ISPs (Internet Service Providers) and cops get pretty suspicious of people that are clearly using Tor. They think you might have something to hide, like, idk, your browsing history and personal information.
librewolf, my default browser, is an open-source modded version of firefox with high privacy features
easy tutorial to degoogle your phone. so freeing. it's supposed to take like 45 minutes. it takes 2 hours if you're dumb. works for most android phones. don't ask me about apple you're on your own.
ublock origin. like adblock, but open source, can block website "features" like pop ups. all around quality of life stuff. it's common sense.
decentraleyes, an extension that adds some extra anti-tracking security.
SponsorBlock, a crowdsourced extension that skips sponsored segments of youtube videos
someplace else, a small blog with more accessible tech stuff
riseup.net provides tech services to activist groups. don't let me catch you organizing on google. you know better than that. even if you don't have a use for that service, they have a pretty cool list of radical servers and sites.
calibre is an ebook reader and management tool for reading and reformatting just about any ebook format you can think of. download a book. edit it for that weird kindle format you need. voila. check my file sharing section for ways to get books.

music and sound
MusicBee, the program I use for my mp3s and flacs and whatnot. you can add and edit metadata and make playlists and all that. be sure to check out the add ons and themes.
explore radio stations by decade and region
a map of music genres. all of them.
listen to radio stations all over the world
a detailed list of SDR stations
listen to various kinds of white noise
big blue swing. big band jazz. idk abt you but i hate looking up jazz only to find low fi smooth jazz coffeeshop shit
brum radio. they mostly play really good funk music
guerrilla radio who, contrary to their name, mostly play chill underground rock. edit: the other day I tuned in and they were playing hallelujah not the one from the 90s the fucking full chorus singing
ampedout, mostly industrial
REAL PUNK RADIO for some of the worst music you've ever heard
FIP. variety radio from around the world. site is france based but I PROMISE the music isn't
clips of the NYC underground punk scene
soulseek is mostly used for music sharing between people. you can view entire file directories and search for specific songs. only download a few albums at a time because itll lag and occasionally corrupt a file if you try to overload it in my experience.

interesting sites
p2pforever. learn about the indie web and decentralized web. this is the bread and butter of my special interest right here
cyberpunk resources.viewer discretion, cyberpunks are.. weird. CHRONICALLY online. and I haven't read through this entire page yet. It's bookmarked for my own use just as much as it is for you.

Basic HTML Competency is The New Folk Punk Explosion: a very earnest article written about self-actualization on the internet.
Websites from Hell. People vote on the worst websites.
The World's Worst Website. It's supposed to be an example for web designers to use to avoid, but.. it's kinda charming.
petit tube. shows you a random video on youtube with 0 views.
GifCities, a project by the Internet Archive. Search up gifs that were originally on Geocities.
Perpetual Calendar, a little site that displays a new gif every day. So charming.
Say No to Web3. a little bit more about the indie web.
Wifi-SM, a hilarious art project that reminds me of old Mondo 2000 articles
