The Cult AU

As inspired by this post and this post

CW: emotional breakdowns, implied torture, codependency, 5k+ words

“Danny,” Sam said. “You don’t have to do this alone.”

“I’m not, though?” Danny answered in a confused tone, putting his gloves on. When he turned, Sam stood there in her battle attire, flowy robes and plants that covered her protectively.

Danny stared at her for a moment in slight bewilderment before he said, “Take those off. I’m going in with Dan and Dani for a chat, not an interrogation, Sam.”

Sam growled. “They won’t be enough. Let me and Valerie come with you. We can protect you.”

“No. This is Jazz, we’re talking about. She’ll never hurt me. And like I said, it’s only a chat. I just want to see what’s going on.”

Jack and Maddie Fenton had a pair of twin boys. Neither of them made it.

Turns out, Jack and Maddie are so ecto-contaminated that it was a miracle Maddie was even able to get pregnant, a miracle that Jazz survived past toddler years.

But Danny and Bru-bru did not.

Okay, but what if they think that this is some kind of Fey trick? That they got their son Bruce cured but it cost them their other son when they can't believe that they'd have been too late to save them both without intervention.

Also, Vlad got his powers from ectocontamination, not dying, so does that have any implications or effects on either of the boys? Were they always a little spooky, sometimes feeling like a case of Uncanny Valley(possibly alluding to even more Fey trickery)?

Kind of curious about this too

Also a part of me is curious about the idea of Alfred serving Bruce in life & serving Danny in death.

A part of me wants to imagine Danny eventually found out & even if Alfred doesn’t forgive Jack for taking Danny he’s calmed down since Jack was trying to help & ended up panicking.(Whether this is in a reveal gone right or a reveal gone wrong is another thing) Clockwork could probably confirm Alfred is telling the truth if he tells Danny or Danny finds out on his own & Alfred mentions something. Be interesting if after finding out Danny(and probably Jazz since she likely either visits or they visit her) gets to hear about how Bruce turned out.

Be interesting if at some point Danny takes Alfred & Jazz to go see Bruce(since he likely can do so) leading to the Batfamily meeting them. Bruce is likely shocked but glad to see Alfred again then meet the brother that he thought died/was taken & the sister he never got the chance to meet.

Jazz likely helps the Batfamily out some(ya’ll need therapy), Bruce & Danny introduce Damian & Dani/Elle to each other.(I guess I’m imagining this as one of those AUs where Danny takes Elle in as his daughter instead of his younger sister) Danny helps Jason with the pit madness. The family likely struggles with connecting & dealing with meeting people they lost/never thought they’d get to meet but eventually manage to accept they’re family with help from Alfred & probably a few moments/incidents.

Alfred is just happy he could reunite the twins like he wanted to do while alive & is even able to stay with the family even if he’s mostly helping Danny now. Even got to see Bruce & Danny’s sister even if it’s her from a dimension were she didn’t die(she’s still family especially Danny’s so doesn’t matter) & learns he has another grandkid.

Jazz is likely going to be pissed Jack kidnapped a baby before being calmed down & understanding it was likely for the best since he was able to save the twins & things worked out in some weird way in the end.

Danny makes creative use of his intangibility. At, of course, the inconvenience of everyone else.

He's been denied entry into the Justice League yet again, but that's fine.

He's not angry.

Nope.

But like, he is feeling like getting a little bit of revenge. Not angry revenge, which would be totally different.

But...petty.

He wants petty revenge.

And he knows where the Watchtower is.

So he makes it his mission to sneak into the Watchtower, over and over and over again, and while completely invisible and intangible, eat the inside of all the heroes treats and meals, so that all they're left with is a hollowed out shell.

Cakes? Just a shell. Sandwiches? Difficult but he manages to hollow those out too. Ice Cream? Just the outside. Spaghetti? Almost impossible, but he manages to do a swap instead; it's spaghetti laying on top of old cardboard. Anything inside of a wrapper? He eats it and leaves the wrapper.

But petty revenge is so good. So satisfying for the soul. And nobody catches him because he comes at most random of times.

And since his blood is pure ectoplasm, but nobody except Constantine and maybe Zatana would know that, he starts leaving creepy, glowy messages in specific members' resting rooms.

Now, he ain't got no beef with Constantine and the magic crew, he did not even apply to go to work with them. No, he got some beef against the boy scout, green vengeance, fastest spaz, ring of dumb, water guppy, and growl Inc.

Shazam is a kid who was so blatantly just trying to fit in, and it was hilarious; he didn't touch his food or leave messages in his room when the poor kid was trying to live in his adult form alone.

Wonder Woman was cool. And she looked slightly mom shaped. What? Danny said what he said. Strong authoritative women were mom shaped. They were!

Now, each aforementioned person got a custom message in green glowy script that Constantine took one look at and said: "Se'es you righ', don' call me 'gain."

Super: You will one day swallow what is most feared, it will eat you from inside. (Danny was referring to ectoplasmic mini hotdogs that were vicious in their revenge. Super understood it as swallowing kryptonite. )

Arrow: Day will come, and you will not see it well. (Danny referring to putting laxatives in Oliver's coffee. Oliver thought he was just threatened he will be blinded.)

Flash: Well, you wouldn't, right? But I would. :) (Flash hates the smiley face. It haunts him. That's the point. Because Danny put a little curse on it to follow Flash for a week and just appear out of the corner of his eye for a nanosecond.)

Lantern(Hal): Dude, duuuuude. dude.... (It makes no sense at all, but it also makes complete sense to Hal. He is afraid and regrets his entire existence and cries in his coffee every morning.)

Arthur: You don't even wield a sword. (and that just switches a rage button in him, because he is not the "right" Arthur for this fiend who has been pestering them for weeks now He swears tot he ocean he will pay the entity back for the insult.)

Batman: See you again, Furrowed Furry. (Again, not creepy, but Batman knows that liquid, and he is scared when he sees it the first time. Something is in the Watchtower, oozing so much Lazarus water, and it's preying on them.)

All the while, Danny met Billy out of their work faces and they're playing Uno like two feral raccoons in Fawcett for a strawberry jam bun. They're about to become best friends.

Diana is watching them from the distance, worried. Because she knows everything. Because she is mom shaped. And ready to adopt two boys, she already stole some of the Bruce's papers.

Ok, but now I absolutely need to read a fic where Diana adopts Danny and Billy. Like, just… it’s perfect. Both Danny and Billy know about the Greek mythos (Billy’s gods and for Danny I sight Pandora), and also, Diana’s just the right mix of chaotic but will still reign them in-

Yes, Thank you! Someone understands me!

The idea of them being adopted by Diana who is prime Mom material for two chaos kids who won't let themselves be controlled so she would just oversee their activities while wondering if it's normal because she doesn't really know, and the person she asks for advice?

It's CONSTANTINE.

Because the kids are magic, no doubt about that. Who is the expert? It's Constantine. Zatanna is too busy with her tours and such and it's so hard to get her on the phone these days, but you can summon Constantine if you're Diana.

And so Constantine becomes Grunkle Consie, and my heart just melts, because Grunkle Consie has had three shots of whiskey already and raged about being beaten in Uno and is about to pull out Monopoly which will bring in property damage.

Superman is trapped in a neighborhood of the Ghost Zone called the Phantom Zone. Danny isn't 100% sure how to justify getting him out.

The Observants keep saying that, per the "rules", Superman has to stay there unless he can find a way to break out on his own.

The problem is that Danny doesn't think he's gonna do that, because Superman found a boy that he apparently adopted at some point during a previous breakout attempt and isn't gonna let that kid go any time soon. And the kid is bound to the Ghost Zone.

Clockwork isn't saying anything, just looking at Danny expectantly.

Danny...

Danny has a crazy idea.

"I'm formally adopting Superman. I'm Superman's dad now, and that kid's grandpa."

The Justice league needs the ghost king

So something’s going on, whether it’s Darkseid, klarion or something else, the league needs the help of a powerful entity known as the ghost king.

John said they were incredibly lucky, the stars had apparently aligned because they met all the qualifications to summon the ghost king.

All they had to do was trap him.

Danny feels sick the whole day. It’s the same every year but for some reason the feeling of dread and anguish are stronger this year and all he wants to do is curl up in his bed and wait for this stupid day to end.

As soon as he lays down though, a horrible sensation rushes through his body.

A horrible, familiar sensation.

He could feel the searing heat of the ectoplasm burning away his dna and his heart stutter and race as it stops and restarts over and over and over again.

He cries and screams and begs for it to end but it never does.

Somewhere in the back of his mind he registers the distortion of space as he’s torn away from the comfort of his bed, the terrified faces of his parents in the doorway as they rushed to help him were replaced by the cold uncaring eyes of a sorcerer

He could feel the man’s spell bind him, a thick chain of magic coiled itself around his limbs as he wept and collapsed onto the floor, his world going black.

—-

The Justice league remained cautious as they waited to take their cue from John. They knew better than to trust what they saw when dealing with magic.

John fell to the ground in shock as he watched the burnt, melting, bleeding, broken body of the boy before him slowly, so agonizingly slowly pulled itself back together, changing into something new.

He felt the life leave the boys body, but he felt his soul remain.

He had no idea what had gone so horribly wrong, but he feared they would all soon find out.

Summoning au/death anniversary au: the ghost king can only be summoned on the day he died. Normally a deathaversary just causes anxiety and depression but when Danny is summoned he is forced to relive his death.

The Wrong Fentons

Following a series of disastrous events started by the GIW, the whole Fenton family is forced to flee their home dimension (+maybe Sam and Tucker join them too)

For better and for worse, this new dimension they’ve landed in seems pretty similar overall. Living in Amity Park again would feel weird, so instead they decide to set up shop in another ecto-rich location instead—leading them to Gotham City.

…Which seems like it may have been a mistake, to be honest.

For some reason both the city’s most famous rich family and their local vigilantes/cryptids seem really pissed at them just for existing. They haven’t even caused any chaos! His parents have been doing a great job laying low, all things considered!

Oh and also, Danny keeps getting mistaken for that rich family’s newest kid - a boy named Danny Wayne.

…could that be why they’re suspicious of them? Do they think that he (Danny Fenton) is a clone of him (Danny Wayne)?
