Bantam/Vintage edition, first published in 1974, of the 1960 classic, "Born Free" by Joy Adamson. The story of Joy and Elsa the African Lion represented an idyllic view of man and beast, and ranks up there with other cross-species stories of the 1960s--Flipper (dolphin) and Gentle Ben (Black Bear). Elsa the lioness was one of three orphaned lions whose mother was killed in self defence by George Adamson. Adamson was a wildlife conservationist based in Kenya.
