According to legend, the Sultan of Delhi, Ala-ud-din Khiljiwas, invaded Chittor in the 16th century. His goal was to meet the beautiful queen of Chittor, Rani Padmini. He was allowed to see her only though a mirror as she stood at the steps of this palace. You can see the steps on the lower left.
