Kindergarten Line Lanterns – Art is Basic | An Elementary Art Blog

This project is relatively simple and takes learning about lines into the third dimension. I posted about this project back in 2013 and it was one of my most popular blog posts. I usually do a line painting project with the kindergartners. This is a great way to learn about types of lines, practice painting with a paintbrush and develop all those great fine motor skills you want the little ones to learn such as gluing and coloring. 1. My Adventures In Positive Space: Lines that Wiggle Monster Collages

I am currently doing a unit on literacy, and reading children's books to inspire art lessons for my youngest artists. For this project we read the book Lines that Wiggle by Candace Whitman, and then stood up and pretended to be different types of lines. Then they created a collage based on the cover illustration. After the painting project, we…

We checked out the lists (and posters) of: Line, Shape, Color, Texture, Pattern, Space and Form. Next, we read a book called, "Lines that Wiggle" that had all sorts of lines in it. We practiced drawing lines by brainstorming different sorts and having children draw them on the board in a list. We used cut paper shapes to create our monsters, puffy paint to create…

We watched ours come to life on @vooks and my students absolutely LOVED it!!! :) We learn and discuss the various kinds of lines (Line posters linked on my storefront ) Then we proceed to painting different kinds of lines with black paint on white paper after we learn how to hold our @royallangnickelclassroom brush, paint with it, etc. We only paint the black lines on the first day. This allows the black lines to completely dry before the next step of adding color. A clever trick I make use of- we only paint the last 10-15 mins of class with the black paint. My students can’t res
