Teaching multiplication and division using an area model and base 10 blocks. Multiplication-Students are given length (factor) x width (factor) to find area (product). l x w = a Division-Students are given area (dividend) and length (divisor) to find mystery number width (quotient). a/l = w. It is helpful to use different colored cubes for corner and length & width so students don't count them. (Picture only)
