Lucky The Dog Who Blogs

Lucky came into my life last November 2016 and we first met when he jumped out of his owners car to start a new life with his family in London, UK. It was minus 5c with ice still on the road and the poor chap could not keep his paws on the road because of the cold, comical at first but traumatic for Lucky having been born in Abu Dhabi and 40c heat and the reception party with strangers he had to confront he was not a happy guy. So his snarling was only to be expected. My love of dogs has given me a six sense to not be afraid and in a calm voice give reassurance , hello handsome I said what is your name, We call him Lucky said his owner going down to his level hello Lucky my name is Mick are going to be friends. Slowly he moved closer and sniffed my hand. And smelling the treat I had he pressed his cold nose against my hand and now with tail wagging he took the treat, and slowly I stroke the back of his ear and that moment on we became best buddies. Over the weeks leading up to Christmas I was ask to dog sit and he got spoilt but it was a great feeling to get the trust again of a dog and to observe his tricks to get me to give him more treats. Putting his big paw on my knee as I sat working at the PC or nudging my elbow with his nose or bark just once followed by an attempt at a cry. I just had to laugh and give in. But he also learned to understand when I said no and I meant no. He would just lay at my feet and soon his snores of contentment could be heard. I would chat to him and tell him about the squirrels, cats and foxes he would be seeing and he would soon be getting his first sighting of a fox later that evening. I would always take him for a walk before I went to bed and the area of London is very quiet at night being surrounded as we are by trees. Out we went and just a few yards away he saw his first fox, and 2 cub he pulled to run towards them and stopped frozen to the spot as the cry from the fox to the cubs broke the quiet of night and unsure what he had just seen and heard he decided foxes were not his thing and that night he must have been trying to work out what had happened as he had a few dreams that night as I heard his chatter while sleeping. What is this place I have moved to he must have been asking himself.
