Resin Flower Bowl With and Alcohol Ink Flower! | In this video I created a gorgeous resin flower bowl with my newest tray mold and I added a little something extra - an alcohol ink flower in the middle!... | By Mixed Media Girl | Hey, guys. Mixed Media Girl here. In this video, I'm trying out a new resin mold that I got and this is about 14 and a half inches across flower mold. You can see there's no texture or anything on it and so I want to try it out and see how it looks so I could show you guys and I'm using Mixed Media Girl Artist Resin for this project. I'm using about 13 ounces. Um if you're making a tray out of this mold, you want to use more like 20 ounces but because I'm making a bowl, you do not want to fill the mold in all the way otherwise you're going to have too much resin in there and it's going to be too thick and it's going to probably crack as you try to form it into a bowl so do not fill it in all the way about 13 ounces is good on the outside I used Illumalite white resin dye and then that kind of maroon color after that is the Illumalite violet resin dye mixed with some of the dark red polycolor mica powder and that makes that gorgeous reddish color and then I put some black in the middle which was the Illumalite black resin dye and that wasn't entirely planned but honestly I knock over a cup of my resin and spilled about four to five ounces out so I had to improvise. I then took a stick and I pulled the white into my design and then pulled some of the black out into the design just to make it a little more interesting. I think it looks pretty cool and then I used some 91% isopropyl alcohol and a heat gun to remove the air bubbles as I went while I was doing that. Now, this part's important. I waited about six hours on how long you wait is going depend on the resin you're using and the temperature of your work space you want your resin to get to the point where it's not sticky at all but it should be very very flexible if you wait too long and let it cure too much it's going to be hard to mold it into a bowl shape I put it into this plastic bowl I got it from Bed Bath and Beyond years ago I'm sorry I don't have a link or anything for you for you I just went into the store and bought it but there's you can use any plastic bowl that's like 100ounces120 ounces you can use a a plastic chip bowl from the dollar store, okay? So, I shaped it into that bowl. I let it cure and then I demolded it. I decided I wanted to do a little more to this. So, I went in there with some alcohol inks and in my hand is just a black like hand pump and that is from Ranger. You can get it at Michael's. You can get it on Amazon and it's just to blow the alcohol inks around and the first color I put down is the Pixus Pearl White and I actually that down just a little bit with some 91% ice profile alcohol and I added a couple drops of the Ranger Snow White or maybe it's called snow cap alcohol ink into there I then put some of the pitch black Ranger alcohol ink in the middle I let that dry then I added a little more of the snow cap into my pearl white and went in with a second layer so you can kind of see that second layer is a more bold white and I'm just blowing this out into petals. Um there's a lot of artist that do this probably a lot better like you could check out Heather Mater and quite a few other artists on on YouTube or Facebook or wherever. So, I let all of that dry. Mixed up a little bit of resin. Put a drop in the middle and then I put some crushed glass pieces. These are like a champagne kind of color and with a paint brush I pulled out just a few lines of that resin of different lengths throughout my flower and I added some holographic white glitter on the top of that I kind of just pour it all over to make sure it got into the resin and then once that was dry I dusted off any excess and I just left it on the spots that I had the resin I let that cure and then I put a very thin layer of resin just over that alcohol ink design and I want to make sure fully fully covered it and this is really just to seal that design and give it UV protection and also so that obviously you can put things in the bowl without messing that up I let that cure and I did actually put one more layer of resin in it just to fully cover that crushed glass but here's how that looks all cured and dry and I think this is one of the most gorgeous bowls I have ever made I love the design I love everything about it so I that I was clear enough. If there's anything I you have questions on, please let me know down in the comments. Thank you for watching and I will see you all next time.
