The paper uses data that supports the need for a father-child relationship. Paternal roles are discussed as well as parenting styles. Three specific domains are addressed; behavioral, emotional and cognitive. Previous research projects that address the role of fathers, as well as the effects of absent fathers were used to obtain the information needed to support this research paper's hypothesis that children that grow up with a strong father-child relationship are less likely to exhibit nonsocial behavior, are more emotionally secure and have more success with cognitive development, than children that grow up without a strong paternal presence. Based on the paper's findings, equal parenting between the father and mother should become more the norm for children growing up in divided homes.
