Abstract

The virtual manufacturing (VM) is simulating and forecasting the problem of function, performance, and machinability for the products by using simulating and virtual technology and high performance computer and high speed network to realize the manufacture. In this paper, the meanings, the classification, the key technology and the characteristic of VM, and the application prospect of VM are presented. In the end, the state of the research and developing trends of VMT is described, which is very important to push the further development of research and applications of VMT.
