ok yeah the Junker Queen is super hot the graphics of the cinematic were great the song was awesome yes yes yes
but can we talk about how everything we learned about / saw of her today made her so very human? i mean:
- her trauma!!! her dad’s friend from the war (?) threw him + his entire family (wife n three kids including her) out of the city the moment he assumed the throne [the ‘13 years’ thing indicated that for me at least?], essentially leaving them to die - WANTING them to die, like the ‘garbage’ they are to him
- (plus…death of her father? that brief scene was her with mother and siblings in front of two graves, right?)
- she does not only not kill people when they could be potential allies later (that could still just be extremely calculating behavior), but is willing to take the hurt for others (i don’t think she knew Geiger that well before the fight?? and she took the hit instead of him even though he’s the one with the fckn helmet????)
- the outtro shows her as very social, interacting with her ‘subjects’ a lot and not (just) to dish out punishments!! no sitting on her high horse like Howl, she has fun with them and even teaches the kids a bit!!
- and lbr there was also a lot of vulnerability shining through that music video, because she wrote that legend herself for sure - she fought her way up to the top and made herself an immortal legend (or is doing her best in that regard), and if that ain’t indicative of having something to prove / having a deep personal hurt to cover up idk what is [note: i don’t mean that in a disrespectful way, she has earned all that she has now!!]

A fanmix for A Summer’s End — Hong Kong 1986, dedicated to Sam and Michelle’s love story.
This mix contains mostly Cantonese and English songs, with one Mandarin song. Majority of these songs were performed by Hong Kong artists and released in the 80s, because A Summer’s End took place in Hong Kong and in the 80s.
I have carefully selected and arranged these tracks, so the lyrics would reflect Sam and Michelle’s relationship development throughout A Summer’s End. Therefore, the content of this mix could be considered spoilers if you have not played the visual novel.
Since @oracleandbone has cited Anita Mui as a major inspiration for them and this visual novel, I have also included multiple songs performed by Anita Mui in this mix.
