oblig #sorry2wagpost but i was rly curious about the letterpress that charles's alex worked with per her instagram story bc i love a letterpress... they've posted a lot of cool projects but the one i think people here might be interested in is this book 100 years of women: motorsport & monaco, which is available online here. it is pricey, in the range of fancy art books, but in case anyone is interested, this is the description from the publisher's website:
Monaco’s motorsport roots date back to 1911 when Prince Albert I inaugurated the Rallye Monte-Carlo. Then, in 1929, a little car race around the streets of Monte Carlo became the Monaco Grand Prix, although it did not join the Formula One calendar until its inaugural season began in 1950. Yet women were driving motorsport in Monaco long before the Grand Prix circuit, winning the Coupe des Dames and Concours d’Elegance as early as the 1920s.
100 Years of Women: Motorsport & Monaco is a series of 65 timeless stories of women written by women, inspiring glimpses into the lives of those who only see gender stereotypes in their rearview mirror.
The hardcover features a preface by Prince Albert II of Monaco and a foreword by world rally vice-champion Michèle Mouton. Iron Dames founder Deborah Mayer has written the introduction.
This unprecedented compilation introduces readers to the world’s greatest female drivers, from rally to F1, who have raced in Monaco. Like veteran rally driver Michèle Mouton (the first to win a major rally title) and karting driver Ella Häkkinen (daughter of two-time F1 champion Mika) to F1 Academy’s Susie Wolff and Amber Lounge founder Sonia Irvine.
The Spotlight Monaco chapter gives an insider's view like you've never read before. A community of race course directors, engineers, race marshals, educators, solicitors, influencers, TV presenters, journalists, founders of women-only rallies ... all deeply rooted in the Principality.
100 Years of Women: Motorsport & Monaco book is a Made-in-Monaco product by Monaco’s first 100% female-owned publishing company. A portion of sales will support next-gen females in motorsport.
