2024-05-09: May Wikischool: User page and space on Wikipedia
[edit]What is Evening WikiSchool for seniors?
It is a series of regular, specialised workshops aimed mainly at seniors, especially graduates of the beginner (and advanced) Seniors Writing Wikipedia (SePW) courses.
What does Evening WikiSchool offer?
It offers the opportunity to focus on developing the specific skills that a good Wikipedian needs to do their job. We will focus on techniques and tweaks that can be used in editing practice that are not covered in detail in the Seniors Write Wikipedia courses.
In May, as part of Evening WikiSchool, we will take an inventory of user space or user spaces on Wikipedia (and its sister Wikimedia projects). A user page is the calling card of every contributor to Wikipedia, but many Wikipedians do not have one even after years of editing. What does your homepage look like and what do you find on it? Do you have a profile on Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata? And did you know you can have a personal profile on the International Wiki (Meta)?
The online workshop - Evening WikiSchool for Seniors: the Wikipedia User Page and Space - will take place on Tuesday 14 May 2024 from 17:00 to 18:30. You can register here, and find all the rest of the information and details there.
Do not hesitate to apply, the workshop has a limited capacity.
2024-05-03: A visit to the Planetarium was part of the National Library course
[edit]In April, within the framework of the long-term cooperation with the National Library, a training of Wikirectors from this institution took place, which was combined with a training of Wikimedia CR staff. The training on Wikipedia, from the basics to advanced editing or, for example, uploading images to Commons or linking to wikidata, also included a tour of the National Library premises, including the historical planetarium. A photo gallery of the event is available on Wikimedia Commons.
