The paper presents the results of the research dedicated to synthesis and characterization of som... more The paper presents the results of the research dedicated to synthesis and characterization of some new, ecological composite materials based on an acrylic copolymer, lignin derivative iron and chromium lignosulfonate and Salix wood sawdust. The FT-IR analysis put into evidence the complex interactions, by esterification and etherification reactions, between the organic functional hydroxyl groups of lignosulfonate and Salix sawdust (the fillers) with the organic functional groups (carboxyl, ester) from the structure of acrylic copolymer (the matrix) and explain the improved properties of the new composites. The proposed new composites are in agreement with the research in the field of recycling lignocellulosic waste to obtain new ecological, environmental friendly materials.

Recycling the biodegradable waste by composting represents a sustainable solution for developing ... more Recycling the biodegradable waste by composting represents a sustainable solution for developing new ecological compost-type substrates, useful both as biofertilizers and as sorbents for the removal of heavy metals from wastewaters. By this paper we aim to present an overview of our studies related to using composted biomass from biodegradable wastes, as viable solution for biofertilizers or sorbents for heavy metals removal from the environmental. The novelty of our studies consists of the new materials that were prepared by composting together different biomass wastes. Aerobic fermentation was used to obtain sixteen different composts from vegetables waste, sewage sludge, beech sawdust and beech ash, in different mixing ratio, and the composting process was monitored. Photovoltaic technologies as renewable energy resources represent a competitive way for the transition from conventional fossil fuels towards a renewable energy economy. The highest renewable energy systems (RES) market share is based on silicon photovoltaic (Si-PV). The installed RES have rapidly increased over the last two decades, but, after the end of their service life, they will be disposed of. Therefore, the constant increase of the installed RES has attracted the global concern due to their impact on the environment and, most of all, due to the content of their valuable resources. Municipal waste is a growing concern in the world through the large quantity produced every year,... more Municipal waste is a growing concern in the world through the large quantity produced every year, the environmental problems and the costs of their storage. Composting is a technique frequently used to recycle a large variety of organic by-products transforming them into fertilisers useful for the soil. Monitoring different physical-chemical parameters showed the effect of the substrate on the microbiological activity and on the formation of the final compost. The purpose of this study was to analyze the steps of the organic matter biodegradation during composting and to establish the most important parameters of the composting process.

New eco-adhesives for wood industry, with advanced properties, were synthesized by polycondensati... more New eco-adhesives for wood industry, with advanced properties, were synthesized by polycondensation of lignocellulosic residues: aluminum, calcium and iron lignosulfonates, as partial substitutes (due to their chemical structure) for toxic monomers phenol and formaldehyde. The improvements achieved by using the lignosulfonates consist on decrease in adhesive viscosity, better water resistance of finished boards, decreasing of the reactivity and increasing the pot life of these new types of phenol-formaldehyde resins.

Biodiesel is a promising alternative substitute for diesel being environmental friendly due to its renewability, biodegradability and high quality exhaust emission. This paper describes the state of art of the first and second generation biodiesel produced nowadays in the world. It is also discussed different raw materials sources, technological paths of the synthesis, as well as the properties, the quality and the performance of the first and second generation biodiesel.
