Hey Scott I hope your doing well. CBC is not doing much to promote the new season of Heartland. Miss your presence on the blog.
I heard that. I don't really follow very closely anymore because it's too easy to get wrapped up in it again. I really hope it does well for the sake of all you loyal fans!!!

That’s the second time they’ve I’ve heard this ‘theft’ mentioned as something that would never have happened on Heartland. Seriously they break in and try to steal Spartan back in season 2, steal a longhorn in season 11 and that whole pesky race thing in season 12. Seems a racist cardboard cutout is fairly lightweight.
Yeah, I’m surprised why people are making such a big deal out of it, especially Heartland fans - like, have we watched the same show or do you just want to criticize something for the sake of criticizing? They’ve done worse things on Heartland. It’s not like Jade, Trace and Kobe just do it for the sake of wanting to create problems, there’s a lesson there. Ty, Amy and Georgie maybe would never do it because I don’t think they care enough for the reason behind it, but they’ve done their share of stealing and breaking law, for sure, so they are no angels either.
I think he just used that moment to frame the narrative of his piece. You guys are exactly right. This little bit of “social justice” is hardly anything to get your nose out of joint on- and, of course, they have to deal with the consequences of their actions still.
The part of that scene that wouldn't happen in Heartland in my opinion is the social justice aspect. Which is something we were asked to push a bit in this series. I’m actually more surprised no one has complained about Kobe’s line to the shop owner about sports team nicknames.
Here's a little behind the scenes for you: The plywood sign/cutout was supposed to be an old-school Cigar Store Indian Statue but it got held up in shipping and never made it to us in time to film with it. So our excellent production designer stayed up all night making that cutout so we didn’t have to lose the gag. But, as part of the gag, they were supposed to rope the statue and drag it behind the truck- bumping Jade’s car- and drag it around the corner and out of the scene. However, that was deemed to be too culturally inappropriate by the higher-ups. So we had Trace jump out of the truck and pick it up. We didn’t want to lose the gag so we just made it work.
