The most direct route to seeking God (looking for who He is) is reading His Word. Here are the excuses we use…that we really need to understand are LIES from the enemy. And when we use them, we’re actually coming into agreement with him. Ouch. I don’t have time. I don’t understand it. I just don’t feel like it. I’m not motivated to read it. It’s too confusing. I don’t have the desire. I have no energy. I’m just too exhausted. I have adhd brain and I can’t focus. There are a ton of answers to these lies (like listening to an audio Bible, finding a version that is a little easier to read, joining a Bible study, etc) but the most simple is to pick up the Word of God every day and read it. That’s diligence. That’s also obedience. Don’t wait until you need rescue. Don’t wait until you’re in the mood. Diligence is doing the thing that you know is good for you (and required if you’re going to access the abundant life Jesus promised) regardless of circumstance or feeling. He will show you who He is. He will fill the hole inside. He will banish your doubts and fears. He will show you His unfailing love. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
