They did not get to come to school and ask for anything on actual “yes day.” The requests had already been approved or denied at that point. Before Yes Day, we learned about this reward and read the short book (that is also on Novel Effect, by the way!) that pairs with it. Then students wrote out requests for things we could do. I told them I would not be spending lots of money, so their choice had a much better chance of being a “yes” if it was free 😉💓 After that, I looked over their choices and made a list of what I could say yes to.
