J.R.R. Tolkien Artwork - no pin limits.

J.R.R. Tolkien was an English author, poet and University professor who was especially known for his works of high fantasy, “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings.” In these books, he created new kingdoms, languages and fantastic characters. The resurgence of popularity of the fantasy genre carried him to the top of writers of this genre. Although it is not as well-known, he had remarkable talent as a watercolorist and sketcher, and his illustrations grace his key works. One of his most delightful books is called “Letters From Father Christmas,” which is comprised of letters he wrote and illustrated for his children each Christmas. It is one of my favorite Tolkien books because of it’s wit; the imaginative stories he wrote about Father Christmas and life at the North Pole; and his marvelous illustrations that go with the letters.

Every December from 1920-1943, J.R.R. Tolkien's children received a letter from Father Christmas, addressed to them in spidery handwriting, bearing a stamp from the North Pole. Tolkien, as Father Christmas, wrote the letters, which he accompanied by humorous illustrations. My pop gave me this book gave me this book when I was a kid, it's beautiful!
The Red Book and the Red Book: Jung, Tolkien, and the Convergence of Images
Tolkien – Afterwards. The Book of Ishness contained a series of Tolkien’s drawings, all of them symbolic or abstract in nature. Tolkien felt “a need to draw not what he saw on the outside, but what he saw on the inside.” The majority of these sketches were produced from December 1911 through the summer of 1913, but he continued to add to The Book of Ishness up until 1928.

"The 'First Map' of Middle-earth" This was Tolkien’s master reference map. His son Christopher Tolkien called it "strange, battered, fascinating, extremely complicated." Its layers of sheets and corrections "reacted," he said, to the story in progress. COURTESY OF THE BODLEIAN LIBRARIES, UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD
