This is such an easy recipe and we're going to start off with skin on chicken thigh but if you want to use skinless chicken thigh or chicken breast, that's totally up to you but it's so much better with the skin on and this is exactly how my dad used to make it at his restaurant. Now, we're going to make the marinade. It's going to be one part soy sauce, the half-part cooking wine. Chow shing wine or mirin works. Teriyaki chicken is on the sweeter side so we're going to add sugar. I know it's a lot but trust the process. Chicken bouillon or MSG, ginger powder, garlic powder, black pepper. This part is optional. You can add turmeric powder for color. And a little paprika. Give it a good stir. Pour all the sauce on the chicken. Next, you want to really get in there and massage the chicken. Let this marinate for at least four hours or overnight for the best results. My dad used to slow roasted chicken in the oven but I'm going to throw it in the air fryer. I already showed you how to make the teriyaki sauce in the last video but here's a little refresher. To some water, you're going to add some plum sauce, sugar, and soy sauce. Pour it into a pot and bring it to a boil. Then, add a cornstarch slurry which is just water and cornstarch. It'll thicken right up and it's done. Now, place the chicken air fryer skin side up and let's put that baby in there. The chicken is cooked in nice and juicy so we're going to chop it up. Cut it skin side down so it doesn't mess up the skin. I'll flip it over. Let me show you how my dad used to chop it. And that's how he used to do it. But look at this juicy perfection. I'm going to serve the teriyaki chicken with some rice. Top it off with some teriyaki sauce. Sprinkle some green onions on top and call this a meal.
