'Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru' Receives Anime Movie Trilogy in 2022

The Hanamaru Haru Ichiban! special event revealed on Sunday that Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru is receiving an anime movie trilogy. Subtitled Setsugetsuka, the trilogy is slated for 2022. Voice actor Kengo Takanashi (Dorohedoro) will join the cast as Chougi Yamanbagiri.

Based on Nitroplus and DMM Games' online card collectible game, Doga Kobo produced two Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru anime seasons in Fall 2016 and Winter 2018, each running for 12 episodes. Crunchyroll simulcast both seasons with subtitles, while Funimation streamed an English dub.

The game also inspired the 13-episode Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu television anime by ufotable in Summer 2017. Aniplex of America licensed the anime and streamed it on Crunchyroll, Amazon's Prime Video platform, and Hulu. An anime movie project is currently in production.

Nitroplus and DMM Games released the game in Japan in January 2015. Game platform Johren plans to release the game in English on February 23. The franchise also received stage plays, musicals, and a live-action in January 2019. A second live-action film is scheduled to premiere this year.
