Make My Day

No spoilers. Don't listen to the negative reviews. 99% of animes with this type of animation have a bad rating just because of that. This is an anime with a plot that, despite being cliché, is well built, fast and develops perfectly over 8 chapters (I wouldn't have minded seeing up to 12). If you like sci-fi, here are elements that fit very well: space, alien beasts, energy sources, robots and futuristic weapons, military, among others.

I want to highlight two anime mechanics that I like: the first, how the chains of command are continually challenged, both among the military and with respect to the prisoners. ... And secondly, I quite liked how they play with the element of the pregnancy of one of the main characters for the development of the plot: it is very well implemented and is important for the evolution of the story.

In short, and most importantly, the series is entertaining, if you like this genre. I give it a rating of 7.5, but I leave it at 7 because the anime is just "good", I wouldn't call it "very good" either. Additional note: a very interesting series to watch along with the anime "exception" which was released on netflix almost at the same time as "make my day" with which it also shares the genre of sci-fi, space and futuristic elements as well as reflection on life.

If you like Sci-Fi and Horror, then giving it a watch isn't too much to ask, 8 Eps. is quickly done usually.
Humanity on a different, distant ice-planet where horrors lurk in the deep down darkness.
I'll be honest, does this anime LOOK good, more or less.
Is the story a masterpiece, maybe not.
Yet I couldn't help myself from continuing to watch this through and enjoy most of the characters. Heck, it even made me cheer for a robot multible times, somethings that doesn't always happen.
Over all though, it's not a must watch but something nice to bite into if you got the time and you enjoy anything ... done with Space and Aliens.

Make My Day is a 3DCG Sci-Fi, horror anime that is set on a cold planet called "Coldfoot". In this anime Humanity has populated many different planets. The planet Coldfoot is (what a surprise) really cold. But on this planet is a ressource important for the energy supply of the humans named "Sig". That's why criminals are sent to this planet to go into mines and get Sig. The rest of the population on the planet is really poor.

Jim, the protagonist, works part-time as a prison guard. His co-workers often make fun of him and he's pretty much their personal sandback if they want ... to insult someone. One day something strange is happening and the prison guards are ordered to go into the mines, where they find monsters that brutally murder people and are basically unbeatable. Now they have to survive on this planet that is flooded by monsters.

Aside from the bad animation, that I would consider still watchable,the biggest problem of Make My Day is that it is super cliché and predictable. Jim is your typical "I have to save everyone" kind of protagonist. Then there's Walter, the" best Friend" type and some more. I don't dislike those character types but the problem is that they have legit nothing special. They're basically walking stereotypes. You could just copy and paste them into a different bad horror show and noone would notice.

The characters are so predictable that it was almost painful to watch.

The same goes for the conversations. They don't feel like anything special or unique in any way and often it's obvious what a character is about to say.

The plot isn't any better. You just know how things will play out and there's no real surprising moment. That, of course, makes many scenes that could have been exciting or thrilling incredibly boring. That way the moments where it's fun watching the show are very rare and even if they happen they aren't that good either (Maybe the anime would be a 6/10 if the whole show has the quality of those moments).

One thing that is kind of cool though is the setting. It's not common to see an anime that has a setting similar to this (or maybe I just haven't watched any).

Overall I think Make My Day is a boring show, that has a few moments where it's actually fun to watch, but those are so rare that the show just isn't worth watching.
