Tokyo Day 5 Akihabara Part 1
Anime Relations: Denki-gai no Honya-san
Late post here since I'm catching up on a few days where I didn't post. I made a flying visit to Akiba just to check things out. The serious shopping will come during our final week in Tokyo at the end of the month. The maids were out in full force distributing invitations to their establishments (no pictures yet on that topic.
I did check out Animate just to scout out where the douj...err... I mean the Light Novels were located in prep for my return visit. I am anticipating spending a full day here when we return. No kidding aside, I wouldn't want to try taking anything but the most vanilla of material through customs on the way home.
The one bit of shopping we did do (other than lunch at an excellent Ramen shop), was for some retro games at Super Potato.

And with that it was on to Ueno park for more sakura and a festival at the Benten shrine.

Day 9 in Tokyo: Sakura
Anime Relations: Sakura Taisen
My previous entry from Tokyo was as a comment to my first post, but I've managed to get the blog entry function running on my tablet so here goes. Sakura: you cannot overestimate just how important sakura season is to Japan until you have been here during it
Of course those scenes of a boy and girl walking alone down a lane of flowering sakura trees are totally false since in reality any such lane would be totally filled with people taking pictures of them and having a picnic on their blue tarps.
. Thus far we've also attended at least five sakura festivals since it seems the food booths are erected on a moments notice.

Prepping for the Japan Trip
Anime Relations: Genshiken
Four weeks until we arrive in Japan. I'll try to post on a daily basis if possible during the month long trip with some links to pictures taken. As for why this is linked to Genshiken--well it's one of the anime that actually shows North American otaku visiting Japan (even though I won't be travelling during Comiket) and I have to make a link in order to post--even this trial entry. I may have to link to an external blog site if this becomes a problem, but we'll see.
