Soz for the week's delay. I have a lot of MAL messages and some days I just like to take a break. I mean, I've typing away at the replies for 4 and a half years without a break!
Ah, I asked the Nauto movie question but I forgot that I hadn't seen Stone Gelel or Crescent Moon Kingdom. The visuals looked a bit ropey so I thought, nah, I'll take a raincheck with these. I thought Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow was pretty decent at the time though. As for the 7 Shippuden movies, I would say the best was clearly The Last Naruto movie (I very nearly cried) and the next best, the one that stood out the most as being memorable, was Road to Ninja. None of the rest really stood out as being amazing or essential viewing and tbh there wasn't that much difference in their overall impact. That's why I gave them all a 6. I was quite impressed by the Boruto movie though and ended up quite enjoying it, to my surprise. Likewise, it's been several years since I've seen them so I don't know how I'd feel now. Plus, my mindset and emotions are always in flux or transitory and mutable so I might feel differently from one day to the next. That's how it is with me with nearly everything. There are only a few things that I would always love or have the highest respect for, no matter what.
The first one that sprung to my mind was Kabuto's transformation. He became a lot more powerful and menacing after that. In the end, it took an Uchiha bros combo of Sasuke and Itachi to bring him down. Might Guy - Night Guy was a really cool one. They should have let him be the one to take down Madara. I think Guy proved himself as the strongest Taijutsu practitioner after that. Naruto's Baryon mode (is that what it's called?) where he takes on the appearance of the nine-tailed beast was always cool. I remember this funny scene on a bridge with Orochimaru (and maybe Kabuto) and Sasori (who was spying for Orochimaru), where beast Naruto just pounds his fist on the ground in rage and the chakra output is so immense that it really knocks them back and flattens everything, and a stunned and impressed Orochimaru exclaims: 'The things that boy can do!' I still remember that.
What do you think of HxH (2011)? It's probably my 2nd fave shounen after Naruto/Shippuden.
I have wanted to try a final fantasy game for years, but never really knew where to start. I do have a friend who's trying to get me to play ff online.
I think I recently watched a playthrough of GOW Ragnorak. Though I don't think I'm good enough at games to play those. I would get trounced.
I think that's kind of how I felt about ngnl's art style. It was so blendy with colors. There weren't any like black outlines.
Likewise. Back in the day, I didn't even have a clue what fillers were. If you mentioned that word I'd have thought it was something used to fill gaps in brickwork. Only when I came to MAL did I become aware that some people skipped episodes that weren't direct adaptations of content from the manga. Also, I became aware that some people had a very harsh, critical, or dismissive opinion toward these so-called fillers. It's been a few years certainly but from how I felt back then I think I enjoyed nearly all the Shippuden fillers. Things like the 'Power arc' had great visuals and a decent story. I was totally caught up in it at the time. The only Shippuden filler I felt was a bit silly was the one with the Allied Shinobi Moms Brigade lol and the one with the Naruto robot wasn't so good, like a step down in quality from the rest. The first Naruto series was a bit different - in that what was adapted from the manga ended after the Sasuke retrieval mission (season 6/complete boxset 6) and then there were wall-to-wall consecutive fillers all the way to the end. So 2 and a half seasons of pure fillers. Out of those, some were enjoyable like the Curry of Life arc, which felt almost like the real thing, and the more lighthearted episodes from the first 6 seasons, and some were very comedic and almost slapstick, like the one with the postman shinobi delivering the (mistaken or inappropriate?) letter (that they couldn't get back), that was determined to see his mission through to the very end and was impossible to stop lol. However, there were some arcs or mini-arcs that seemed a bit lackluster. I remember one near the end of the first Naruto series that involved Kurenai sensei and her team and a girl who drew things that were connected to some sort of genjutsu power (if I remember correctly), that lacked the magic and cohesion of the canon stuff. Overall though I'd say the fillers did enhance my viewing experience and even if it's not based on the manga story, the producers and artists are the same. The soundtrack composer is the same and all the music tracks are the same. And very importantly, the voice actors/seiyuu are the same.
What about the Naruto movies? Do you have any faves or least faves? What would be your ranking order for the movies? Come on, let's be proper, full-on, unashamed Naruhards lol.
You're lucky to have a mom that's ready to share an interest of yours like that. What have been her fave moments, arcs, and characters so far? Your fave mom from the series? I'd say Naruto's mom Kushina was pretty cool.
Oh, I own nearly every DVD from both OG and Shippuden. Just had a look, and I have the complete OG seasons 1 to 7, and Shippuden episodes 1 up to 401. Tbh I bailed out at the end of Shippuden because I couldn't handle waiting another year to see the end - so I streamed the last 99 episodes. How about you, what have you got?
