After reading on Season 3, the more I realized how much I would had hated it. So I dodged a bullet, because if I forced myself to watch the Movies to then see what was waiting for me in Season 3, I'd probably lose it.

Anyways, I've never been a person who watched anime because it was anime. I've always watched a lot of shows, it's just that over the years Western Shows has seen a major decline in quality and anime has been pumping out like hot cakes, so the chances that one sticks the landing once in awhile is quite high.

Appreciate the civilized discussion on this topic. It's quite difficult to have people be reasonable now adays especially when you may not see things completely 1 to 1.

Unfortunately I am at the point in my "anime watching career", that I will not be willing to watch anything that I don't enjoy anymore. There will be outliers where certain series has an adaptation and I am curious how they would handle it i.e Solo Leveling.

I do like the drama genre, but it has to resonate with me. I went through a post that I made on a different forum about Season 2. I deleted the original so I only have my replies to gather my thoughts. From what I gathered and now starting to remember. I had a really difficult time accepting Yuuko as a character. She was an extremely annoying character who had a very generous reception into the group without any proper redemption arc. You can say that it's realistic in a sense that people might not always rehash old problems and let bygones be bygones, and they don't necessarily have to be great friends (from what I vaguely remember she actually becomes quite friendly with them PMA...).

What I liked about Season 1 was that it felt genuine, meaning there were aspects that wasn't integral to the plot but they still showcased it and animated it with the same love as the climax. Being the stand-ins who made baked goods and did their little fun performances which was very nice and allowed them to shine in a natural way without feeling forced. Although it may not be a 10/10 show for me, just having that showed me that the person who wrote/animated this actually cared and added it to the runtime. Those were the aspects I enjoyed in Hibike but instead in Season 2 we got over dramatized high school girl stuff and I was extremely put off by it because it felt like a massive shift in tone. Kumiko also was downgraded to essentially a lense for the audience to conveniently see the progression of the drama unfold, with what I thought had an unnecessarily large amount

I don't remember much of Season 2 to be honest. I was left very disappointed and gave a more laxed rating due to my feelings towards the first season.

I can't remember how realistic the drama was, but I am willing to concede the point where it's believable. Yet it doesn't change the fact that it was very melodramatic, and felt like something a high school girl would resonate with rather than someone of my demographic (20s). To each their own, you can enjoy it and feel a different way about it, but just basing off your opinion of Season 3 and the issues you had with it. I think perhaps there's a chance you overlooked the red flags in the progression of the series in Season 2, which ultimately led to the product of Season 3.

Here for your Eupho Season 3 review.

I liked Eupho 1, but thought Eupho 2 took a drastic turn for the series. Filled with melodrama and anticlimactic "conclusions". Obviously Eupoh was made to cater to the Shoujo demographic and anyone who's over the age of 18 would find it all extremely dumb (no offense). Seeing how you're someone who gave both Seasons a 10/10 and I was already told prior that the quality drops even further from Season 2 > Movies, I am glad I didn't cave to continuing this series after visiting the MAL page for it again due to seeing your negative review. I was simply curious to see if Eupho 3 went back to Season 1's roots.

You're right, Kingdom is Rated 17+...it's Seinen, haven't heard of Altair before, art looks nice, I'll try that thanks!

I once watched 4 episodes of Arlsan Senki, I didn't like it, so dropped it, does it get better later on?

I can understand about growing old, although I'm 29, the only anime I watched this year is Kingdom and half of Frieren, couldn't get into anything else, same with games, bought PS5 2 years ago, completed only one game till now (Spider-Man)

Hey. First of all, thank you for reading my review and also for respectfully replying to it, providing some real arguments to what I say.

On the first point, I don't know if I didn't make myself clear or you read too much into it, but regardless, I want to assure you that I am not offended by "immorality", such as slave owning, rape, crime, incest, you name it. Hell, I just finished a manga where the MC killed, raped and bullied many people and I still enjoyed and appreciated it because it actually tackled these actions from the perspective of both the criminal and his victims. My main problem is that the story feels directionless, it feels like it has nothing to say with it's story and characters in terms of it's themes and time period. I simply see no reason to care for yet another poisoning or yet another assassination, it's just there for the purpose of mystery, i suppose. I guess it is something, but not nearly enough. I just don't see anything respectable or likable about the characters, especially the main character, since she has no real struggles and feels too inhumane for a 17 y/o, she only cares about her poisons. Of course, not every story needs morals or themes, looking at comedy or historical stories that want to realistically portray those times, but if it wants to do that, I believe it needs to focus more on those aspects. That's where the frustration came from, there were many things that didn't make any sense and were just brushed off as if they weren't important for the workings of the story. Also, you should be careful with the source material argument, I'm simply critique what the anime is, not it's source material. Still, I appreciate that you gave me more context, but I still believe that the anime should have spent more time on setting up its world and characters, although it still probably wouldn't help the MC too much, due to the MANY complaints that I had about her that I believe are the essence of her as a character that I feel don't work since I am deep into psychology and understanding humans (and because of that, I can't simply accept an emotionless and genius 17 y/o that has the problems that I already mentioned and the story doesn't address it).

"you can't describe the historical context as a strong point if you dont have a clue what this historical context entails and what actual History was like."
Alright, this is a fair argument, although, by the "strong point" part, I meant the simple idea of having this place and time period as the setting (which, while I don't really care about originality, I still believe it's a setting that really works and can be properly explored). I should also make clear that I clearly stated in my review that I am not aware about the historical context and also why I believe it should have been explained more (not many people are probably aware of it's history, although this is just what I think, I can't be sure). Sure, not every story should be made for everyone and that is a fair point, although in historical contexts I do believe that we still need a bit of an introduction and a way to set the story in order to understand the rules that it abides by.

About the Jinshi part, while I was ok with him, the image I have of him really is different from what you describe. I see him as a goofy character that like to tease his crush, but I can also see that there is some darkness behind him that has potential, but I still critique what I see, not what MAY come later.

On the last point, I believe I already made myself clear. Show as much lack of morality as you can, but please tackle it, show us what these characters actually think and live and give them time to shine, don't use it as just some tool to pass the time and to show us just how great our protagonist is.

Have a great day, I'm always open to discussion, as long as it's done respectfully and by using arguments

Hey! Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, MAL sends so many notifications i usually just ignore them so i completely missed this!

Yea i thought Detroit Metal City definitely had good promise, but I wanted the MC to like, actually start having some character growth. No problem where he started, but i wanted him to *actually* start becoming a hardcore dude outside of his concerts.

As far as my top 10 goes, thats not really current, its been a while since i updated it. Just glancing at it, i'd probably edit FLCL, Samurai Champloo, Baccano and Darker than Black out... maybe. Depends on what id be comparing them to. I think FLCL is the weakest on my 10fav list, and Baccano is only on there cuz the english dub's voice acting is hilarious. But i added that on there maybe a decade ago lol, could prob change it
