My own weird way

@myownweirdway

Tumblr home of Cygnus (also at servitorludi.blogspot.com). Expect lots of sci-fi, fantasy, games, comics, and prog rock. ALSO some occultism, neopaganism, qabalah, and Thelema. I probably also won't be able to resist posting geeky stuff about alphabets, symbols, colors, and music.

Alchemical Retort Meditation

“Picture your being as a flask. The outside world can only enter through the walls of this flask. Let your consciousness look outward through the walls of the flask into the sense world.

As this meditation continues, you will find sudden images, jumbled thoughts, and daily worries arising quite naturally. In this exercise, do not try to repress these or avert your consciousness from them, but allow each of them in turn to develop, grow to fruition, and then dissolve as their energy dissipates.

These images and emotional impulses arise out of our unconscious mind, the raw energy of our inner life, the ground of our being. Picture this in the meditation as the most inward content of the flask, a deep interior darkness out of which these impulses unconsciously stir. Allow your being to sink inward, to immerse itself in the inner contents of the flask, and then return to the surface.

You should now picture your being as the flask or retort, a dynamic boundary between the multiplicity of outer perception and inward streaming unconscious activity.

In this meditative exercise, your soul touches upon the two seas in which your being has no firm foundation, and through this inner touching begins to contact the solid ground of the soul which lies between these two realms. Thus you being to grow a space within, a space in which you can surely work with the soul.”

From “The Alchemical Mandala” by Adam McLean [1989].

“This World of Imagination is Infinite and Eternal. There exist in that Eternal World the permanent realities of every thing we see reflected in nature” - William Blake.

Your Imagination is not an escape from the World, but is instead its eternal foundation. “Time is the moving image of Eternity” - Plato.

Eternity is timeless and changeless, because it already includes all time and change. Each moment of your life is part of Eternity, and can be experienced as such by a change in perspective.
