I think you've been saying this too, but I legitimately think Lesmand is going to pop off next season. This is all anecdotal, but from the various apps that I've been on when looking at IWTV content (and even IWTV polls) it's almost always the one people rarely talk about, but I really think people will gravitate towards it next season which I think is exciting.

Lesmand is a pairing that carries so much fire, rejection, anger, need… The little hints we got in 2x03 were delicious already, but there is so much more to the beginnings (and later relationship) Lestat and Armand have, and I seriously cannot wait to see it.

They’ll burn up our screen I bet :)))

to all your anons sending asks saying.. I cant believe stupid drama over website and Assad etc... perhaps they haven't been here long? or they should look into it?? it's NOT just about a website.. if it was just that one thing people would have not reacted at all... it's cherry on top of so many things already boiling up in the fandom.. Assad was no part of any PR in season 1 for obvious reason.. but in season 2 he continued to be ignored.. yes he was in few panels last year but other than that like it's been literally said 100 times but he's been passed over in mentions and award considerations many times how.. all PR accounts always skip honoring him properly. if anyone is excluded somehow it's always him.. and now this mistake on top of it.. it just compounds and it's ALWAYS HIM. so for those anons to act like people are mad just about that website thing.. they are either playing dumb and are very dishonest or are totally uninformed

Okay, I’m gonna say this real gentle, because I get the high emotions subject, as said.

But:

You are extrapolating on a parasocial relationship, feeling hurt for Assad here, based on your feeling that he should get all the nominations and awards.

And you know what? I agree, he does. He is AMAZING as Armand.

He is also not (co-)lead.

He is a supporting actor, whether you might like that, find that appropriate or not.

Season 1 was split due to covid - which resulted in them having to dig into Dreamstat, because it is the Lestat & Louis show, built on the friggin’ Vampire Chronicles. And which resulted in a perceived shift in lead, with Lestat “dropping out”, and Armand taking over.

But Sam and Jacob are the leads.
That has been stated, often enough.
(It’s even been stated that the shift of “supporting” will happen in s3 wrt Jacob(!))

There’s contracts for AMC to consider here - and also the structure of the chronicles themselves.

I said it before, some people also seem to think it’s the “Louis show” because the title of the show is “Interview with the Vampire” (and because Jacob has at times underlined the “the”).

But in the next season the “the” vampire will be… Lestat.
Imho the show is called IWTV because “The Vampire Chronicles” is way too close to another vampire show, “The Vampire Diaries”.

And it’s a very, very different beast than that show.

Armand is one of the big corner stones IWTV is built on - Loustat being the main focus, then DM - but he is still a supporting character. Who will have a big part in the upcoming seasons!
But he is not lead or co-lead.

AMC chose this setup, and they are pushing the FYC campaigns accordingly. With addition of Delainey because she is part of the unholy family. (And you don’t want to argue against her performance, do you.)

Again, whether AMCs choices may be something -I- find appropriate - or you - is irrelevant here. You can get upset over it, you can rant - but this is it.

And, given the structure of the chronicles, I can only recommend accepting that.

Because they are doing the books.

Personally I can't help but laugh at the amc site cast list drama. Aside from what people have pointed out about mobile and desktop sites not even matching. Those lead cast lists are always a mess. If you read the cast list in streaming services its the same thing: lead actors, big names, missing literally everyone. Whoever made the site just made it with four spaces and then went down thw cast list in starring order. Jacob (lead up to S2 and now co-lead), Sam (co-lead and now lead), Delainey (top billed supporting cast), Eric (biggest name in the supporting lead cast and last name that puts him before Assad). But nope this fandom will make a huge mess over every perceived slight and half the time it is a not understanding how a weird industry works.

Yeah well, as said before, I get that this is a high emotions subject.

But yeah, that website… is hastily cobbled up, let’s put it that way.

People jumping so high on any perceived slight… without stepping back to look at the whole picture is a bit worrying.

But then many things in this fandom have been, tbh. And I’m sure, leading up to season 3, with all the shattering illusions to come for some parts of this fandom, there will be a lot more.

artemisdesari-blog:

Sometimes being the mum who exists in fandom spaces leads to awkward, even concerning, conversations. Such as the one which happened this morning. The mum of my daughter’s best mate asked me if one of their mutual friends had sent her a specific message. This message was a link to a fic on ao3, if this had been a G rated fic this conversation would not have happened. It was not G rated. It was an E rated fic. Our kids aren’t even 12 yet. As it happens, both of our kids have their internet access heavily locked down and monitored. They have phones because of how their school manages homework. The mutual friend, however, is not so monitored. Or she wasn’t, given what her mum found she’s about to be. This kid had found a fandom, joined it, and found it chock full of antis. The fic had been sent to her by one of them as an example of the sort of terrible people out there who need to be harassed and attacked because they wrote a smutty story.

Someone thought it was appropriate to send written porn to an 11 year old to encourage her to attack the author.

This resulted in a very awkward conversation where I had to explain to multiple horrified parents the anti culture that is becoming so prevalent. The fact that there are adults who use that purity message to groom kids. The way they escalate and how it bleeds into real life. One parent told me she’d wondered why her 14 year old was suddenly concerned about the two year age gap between her parents. The more I explained, the more absolutely ludicrous it sounded and the more baffled these poor mums looked. More than once I was told “but the characters aren’t real, it’s really weird but it isn’t hurting anyone”. Which is the point. The fictional situation isn’t hurting anyone. The person who sent porn to an 11 year old is.

Was the person who sent it the author? Doubtful, that thing was tagged in the extreme. Was the person who sent it an adult? Almost certainly. The parent who’s child received the original message has found more concerning stuff and gone to the police, but from the language the person doing the sending was in the US. We aren’t. Did my daughter receive it? No, she isn’t interested in that fandom and therefore wouldn’t have bothered with it. Is this the fault of the author? No, they didn’t send the link, they didn’t ask to be harassed, they wrote a story and put it on ao3, the website created in response to rampant censorship and designed to allow for all kinds of fiction. Is this the fault of the parents? Partially, they should have been looking at their daughter’s internet use and clocked what was happening sooner. Is this the fault of the child? No, she’s 11, she didn’t know better.

This has been a difficult day. Multiple parents have had their eyes opened to parts of fandom culture they had no idea existed. And the thing of it is, they aren’t concerned about the why of anti rhetoric. They don’t care about the adults writing about teens or rape or incest or torture or any of the rest, because they looked at the clearly tagged and rated fics and figured that it worked the same as a warning on any streaming service. They only cared because some utterly vile individual decided to expose their child to something this girl might not have looked at for years.

Proshippers did not cause what I have spent afternoon helping several sets of parents navigate. Antis did. Normally I’m fairly quiet about the whole debate because I just want to get on with my life and share my experiences. Today I got dragged into that mess in my every day life and the adults in the equation didn’t react the way Antis like to think they would. They didn’t condemn the author. They condemned the anti who shared the work with a preteen.

They are also going after Eric Bogosian, saying he does not deserve to be there over Assad. I am sorry, but Eric is arguably the most famous person in the cast. He is legend and everyone in Hollywood knows him. This is getting ridiculous. Should the mistake have happened, no. Should it be corrected, yes. But that has nothing to do with the other actors on the show. They are all wonderful. This is getting embarrassing. Stop insulting other actors in the name of boosting an actor you like better. I remember reading an article saying that Interview with a Vampire is a prestige show with a CW audience. And it is true. People need to grow up.

… yeah that article hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately.

Because of that website people are now literally saying, and implying, that Delainey shouldn't be listed on there over Assad because Claudia's dead 😑 what are we doing, why. We can be upset about that stupid website, whether it was a mistake or on purpose idk, without demeaning the rest of the cast. Why does this always happen. Why can't we just be upset without saying someone else doesn't deserve to be on there. Sigh. Anyways, I love Delainey and I can't wait to see her haunting the narrative (and in some NOLA flashbacks?!) next season.

Cannot wait for that either.

I bet it will be heart-wrenching.
