Finishing Touch: How Jewellers Set Deep Gemstones in Their Designs
Working with deep stones presents its own set of challenges, but it’s these very obstacles that push designers to get creative. Whether it’s employing reverse setting techniques or using intricate latticework to let the stone breathe, designers are always rethinking how to highlight a stone’s beauty while keeping it securely in place. From edgy, avant-garde methods to more classical yet creative solutions, setting deep gemstones has become a true showcase of artisan craftsmanship at its finest.
Taking Flight: Fluttering Wing Motifs in Fine and High Jewellery

Jewellers across the globe have been spellbound by its charm. So, buckle up and join us as we explore how this celestial symbol has soared through the luxury world, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.

A Decadent Decade: MADLY Goes 'Beyond the Bling' for its 10th Anniversary
They say that 'time flies when you're having fun', and that appears to be the case for Singaporean brand MADLY, which is celebrating a decade of design in November 2024. During a recent visit to the city-state, I stepped inside the MADLY universe on a visit to its flagship store and was reminded of its passion for brightly hued gemstones and its originality in design. All this is now immortalised in a coffee table book titled 'Beyond the Bling' that recounts a decade of MADLY production, including its signature jewels, rarest gemstones and the stories behind its favourite pieces. To find out more, I asked the brand's founder, Maddy Barber, to recount her milestone moments and take us on a whistlestop retrospective of the MADLY aesthetic.

Ahead of the September 2024 edition of Vicenzaoro, the opportunity arose to discover new additions to its beautiful Baia and Ischia collections, including a stand-out suite inspired by historic underwater mosaics…
