757K views · 68K reactions | MY WHITE WHALE 🥹❤️ I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw this lane acclaim at a local estate sale… with a price tag of only $65. I was ECSTATIC! Here’s how i fixed it up👇🏼 (comment LIST if you want the full list of supplies used!) + removed old finish with carbide scraper + sanded off any remaining finish with 120 + 180 grit using my @festool + used @realmilkpaintco oxalic acid to help remove water stains + applied a baking soda solution to neutralize surface + used Mohawk raw umber glaze + went in with a lil medium brown tower + sealed with semi gloss lacquer! I’m not sure if I love the muted contrast… I think if I were to come across another, I’d lacquer it as is, skipping the toner + glaze. There’s just something about stark contrast that tickles my fancy!! ✨ Comment LIST if you want the full list of supplies used or let me know your questions below! 👇🏼 #mcm #laneacclaim #furnitureflip #thrifting #garagesale #estatesale #diy #midcenturymodern | Lilly Skjoldahl - DIY furniture flips + home improvement

2.4K views · 20K reactions | These are the steps I take to remove old finish 👇 1. Apply and spread chemical stripper 2. Wait 10-15 minutes (depends on temp & humidity) 3. Scrape off using putty knife.. as much as you can so you don’t gunk up and waste too much sandpaper. 4. Scrub and dissolve remaining gunk using lacquer thinner and steel wool (#0 is my favourite) 5. Wait till dry and sand with 150 and 180 6. Voila! You have a perfectly bare top that you can now finish any way you like 😊 #furniturerestoration #diy #woodworking #paintedfurniture #furnitureflip #furnitureflipper #furnituremakeover #diyvideos | Charlie • furniture upcycling & diy

163K views · 25K reactions | How much $ do I make as a full time refinisher and flipper? Before I get into it, if you're interested in the products used for this transformation, comment ✨️ BLUE ✨️ for the links sent straight to your inbox! I'm a private person. So while I won't tell you my annual income, I will tell you this⤵️ You do the math... I left a corporate sales position in retail furniture five years ago to pursue my own furniture restoration and refinishing business. I had intended to only supplement my savings with my business to avoid pulling from my savings. Instead, I have been able to replace my income from my previous position and build a business that supports two full-time and one part-time employees. We average 75% ROI for each piece. Each piece sells anywhere from $1000 to $4000. With the average piece being around $1,800 to $2,800. Each month, our goal is to sell four of our pieces and have at least three custom orders for client owned pieces. Each of those orders usually includes 1 - 3 pieces. It's important to note that we operate debt free. One important thing to me when beginning this journey was that I had nothing hanging over my head that kept me from walking away at any point if needed. We do this by working with what we have and only investing in new tools/supplies/furniture when we have it in cash in our budget. We could get into all of that in a different discussion. Additionally, our prices didn't start at those amounts. It took time and dedication to build a quality clientele and improve our skillset/quality with each piece. That continues with every piece to this day. My last but certainly not least important note on this topic - none of this includes any monetary value from social media. Yes, we do make some off of affiliate sales/ads/views etc, HOWEVER I don't share those because it's important to me to share that this is a viable business all on its own. Is it easy? No. Will it test you? Yes. Is it challenging? Yes. Is it worth it? No doubt. 79K views · 7.3K reactions | Want to see how acetone can change the game for your next flip? Drop “ACETONE” in the comments, and I’ll send over links to all my must-have tools and supplies! Why I’m hooked on removing vintage finishes with acetone and a scrub brush: 1. Serious Time-Saver: No more exhausting, multi-step stripping marathons, scraping until your arms give out, or sanding for days. Acetone powers through vintage finishes like a dream, so you can dive into the fun part—like choosing paint colors or stains—way sooner! 2. Gets Every Last Detail: Sandpaper doesn’t stand a chance against intricate carvings or spindles, but a scrub brush with acetone? Absolute perfection. It effortlessly cleans out crevices and detailed trim work, making your piece truly shine. 3. Less Mess, More Satisfaction: Tired of drowning in a cloud of sawdust? Acetone gently lifts the finish right off, making cleanup a total breeze. Lay down some cardboard or a drop cloth to catch any drips, but don’t stress—acetone evaporates quickly, keeping your workspace tidy! 4. Gentle on Wood: While it’s tough on finishes, acetone is surprisingly kind to the wood underneath. It preserves the natural beauty of the grain and preps it perfectly for whatever transformation you have in mind—whether that’s a deep, rich stain or a bold, colorful paint. 5. Straight to the Good Part: The faster you strip, the sooner you get to unleash your creativity and turn that thrifted find into a jaw-dropping statement piece. Painting, staining, waxing—whatever you choose, it’s all about making something uniquely yours! Love furniture flips and bite-sized DIY tips that make you feel like a pro? You’re in the right place! 123K views · 30K reactions | Comment “SPRAY” for a link to the clear lacquer I used! Some pieces really don’t need THAT much work and are cute as is! 🥰 I probably will go in and tone this one a little darker with gel stain once the sealer dries, but that’s still infinitely less work than stripping it. | Abby Askew
285K views · 23K reactions | This is one of my favorite tricks although there are a few very important things to note if you are going to do it: 1. It is extremely important that the part you will be duplicating is firmly attached, in good shape and completely sealed with top coat. This is not something to be done on raw wood. If the wood isn’t sealed the lubing oil will contaminate the wood and cause problems with later finishing. Because of that this should actually be one of the last things you do when refurbing. Fix everything, seal everything and only then do this. Then make sure you clean the area to remove any lingering oil 2. The type of filler you choose goes a long way in how easy or hard this is. I strongly recommend using a two part epoxy filler over normal wood filler or bondo. The two part epoxy is both stronger and takes longer to dry and cure. That means you don’t have to rush when filling the mold so you can be sure to get into all the crevices for detail. It also means there is a point where the filler is dry and strong but is also flexible. Not being stiff and brittle and having a little bend goes a long way in getting it out of the mold easily and free of breaks. The one im using her is PC Woody and I highly recommend it. Other than those two points the whole thing is pretty straightforward and fun. I don’t always do it as I think antiques are allowed some imperfections but sometimes the loss is a bit much. Whenever it detracts or distracts this is the play for me 😊 #refinishingfurniture #flippingfurniture #furnitureflipping #furniturerestoration #diytips #diytricks #antiquelovers #furnituremakeover | Second Wind VTG
511K views · 9.2K reactions | Awesome HACK for Fixing Furniture | Awesome HACK for Fixing Furniture | By Furniture Flipping Teacher | Need to make a repair right here on this corner but what we're going to do is we're going to utilize the other corner to make a little mold. Let's see if this is going to come off. I mean, I think it'll work. The reason I'm using Bondo here is because it is the best product that like holds up and like holds its shape and it's good for structural repairs. I think I made it. I did it. Let's get this all perfected now. So now, that we've got a solid corner again. Oh my gosh. I'm so proud of myself.
