DIY - IKEA Hack on Instagram: "@studiostone__ shared her custom built-in look IKEA hack using 6 narrow, white BILLY bookcases and 3 IVAR cabinets. They cut the BILLY bookcases to fit perfectly to the ceiling. All holes were filled and seams caulked. After sanding, the fronts and arches at the top were created using MDF. The BILLY bookcases received a multiprimer coat, while the IVAR cabinets got a regular wood primer. Then, the entire cabinet was painted the same color as the wall for a cohesive look, using two coats of paint. My son asked for LED lighting, a gaming area and somewhere to put his lego models. I’ve tried to design different areas of the bedroom to incorporate what he was wanting. - I’ve gone for panelling and more panelling in this room 🤩 absolutely love it and thought i could be quite creative in here. So the first part of the room i’m sharing is the corner panelling / LED feature ✨ - We built a timber frame using wood from @bandq_uk I then bought a strip of LED lights from @amazonuk (these lights are fab) i will pop a link on my stories. The panelling was then cut to size - slightly larger than the timber frame. We used black

The support was built out of common board 1x2s. I screwed a long piece and sides against the wall, hitting studs where I could. The additional supports were added with pocket holes to make it easy! 2. I used one underlayment 1/4” plywood piece, ripped down to the width of the shelf on both the top and bottom. Wood glue and a nail gun made this quick and easy! 3. To finish off the front, I used 1x3 common boards. Just search the pile until you find a good one! For a more seamless look if your shelf is longer than 8’, be sure to miter the seam. 4. For the finish, I used part acrylic paint, part water,

Erin Zubot • HOME DESIGN & DIY on Instagram: "Ikea kitchen cabinets, I just can’t quit them! They are so versatile and hack-able and come in so many depths and sizes. We customized these 21” upper cabinets and used three Enkoping doors. I chose those doors because I liked the simple shaker and they were inexpensive. The key to painting IKEA doors is in the prep!! A light sand and then priming with shellac based primer. The primer provides a strong bond with the slippery surface of the doors. Then for the paint I like to use an enamel based paint (I like Benjamin Moore Advance) which dries very hard and is very durable and so no top coat required. Laura Deller on Instagram: "Let’s build a bench! 🌟 The easiest design which can be scaled up or down to your size specifications. I’m going to make one out of treated timber for the garden too! If you fancy a solid top, use this technique and then add a smooth piece of wood on top for a super sturdy bench. This cost £13.88 in timber to make 💪🏼 (if you don’t have the adhesive or screws then factor that cost in too). If you change the timber thickness, just adjust your shorter legs accordingly so it still fits flush. Tag anyone that might be up for this project or to rope in and help with yours! 🫶 Details: 6 x 44cm lengths for my ‘longer legs’ 4 x 35cm lengths for my ‘shorter legs’ 4 x 80cm lengths for the bench top I purchased 4 x ‘smooth planed round edged timber’ £3.47 each from @ba
