Follow @inspired_little_learners for more easy kid science ideas! ❗️Bonus: it uses items you probably already have in your kitchen! 🙌🏼 MATERIALS: - water - oil (vegetable, avocado, olive) - salt - clear glass or jar INSTRUCTIONS: 1️⃣Pour water into a clear glass so it’s about ⅔ of the way full. 2️⃣Add an oil like vegetable or canola oil (you only need a thin layer on top of the water). 3️⃣Slowly sprinkle salt into the glass. 4️⃣Observe! THE SCIENCE: Water and oil don’t mix. The two liquids separate with oil on top because oil has a lower density compared to water. Food coloring is water-based so it mixes with the water. ( cc @hardwire_media ) ⠀ When you add the food coloring to the oil it will not mix.
