Growing up I remember thinking it was so funny that my grandma (whom I called Oma) would save wrapping paper. She would open her presents so carefully, fold the paper up very nicely, and then go around the room picking up everyone else’s wrapping paper to salvage for next year’s gifts. And while those memories still bring back such a special memory that also makes me chuckle a little bit, I’ve realized that genetics are a funny thing. Call me crazy if you want, but I love to reuse tissue paper (if it’s not torn up). I have a whole basket of folded-up tissue paper that I keep next to our wrapping paper and gift bags to use when gifting. So when I shared this little hack a couple of years ago, I was surprised that people thought I used too many pieces of tissue paper and that they would just get thrown out. For some reason, I thought everyone reused tissue paper like they did gift bags. And that’s when I realized that I am a copy of my Oma and that most people don’t save those things for future gifts. But I guess that makes the memory all the more special and I hope that my future grandchildren will also share some of my quirks that they too will cherish at Christmastime. What is your favorite Christmas hack? Friendly note 1: if you don’t like the word hack you can pretend it says “tip,” “trick,”, “idea,” or “tutorial.” :) Friendly note 2: While some people have been doing this for 20+ years and noted that “it’s nothing new” I have also had some who are in their 60s say it’s “new” to them and that they had never seen it before. Sharing mini tutorials like this online is how we learn from each other. Because what is old news to some may be brand new to others. <3 Inspo: @the.handwrittenhome | Giustina | DIYs • Recipes • Home Inspiration

Just separate it. They all come in three parts and then we've also got a snowman. Don't let the drill scare you. Just take the drill. Drill directly into the Christmas tree. You want to make sure they're all not perfectly centered. Just put them right around the side. Take your scissors and then just clean these up all around the edges. Okay, I almost forgot the snowman. Word to the wise, don't by the wire twinkle lights by the ones with the cord. Poke it right up into there like so. Make sure you get the right twinkle lights. The kind that you can take the top off. Just press that up through and then just take the bulb. Put it right back on and then tack it on with a dot of hot glue. Okay, the last light is going on. Now, let's put Mr. Snowman together and then turn on the lights. Look how easy this pops on. All for $5 each. Alright, just put the hot glue right around the star. Let's set it right on top. Hold it into place. Make sure it's straight. Now, let's light this up. Look how awesome these turned out with the lights on. Remember to check the comments. I'll post a photo of these all lit up at night and as always, if I can do this, you can do this.
