So, I purchased a few and let's do something fun with them. Such a great way to give new life to an old crystal lamp. Again, the thrift stores are loaded with them. You may have even had one left to you, one that was a grandparent. Such a fun way to take that old lamp and make it into a beautiful lantern like one of these just in time for the holidays. Let me show you how you can do it. These were a great thrift find. I found multiple ones and you know, I see them all the time which is pretty cool. So, you could definitely try this upside I'm sure there's no shortage at the thrift store. Lamps are like accordions. All you have to do is unscrew the top and then unscrew the screw in the bottom and they just slide right apart. Really important to pay attention when you slide it apart once you unscrew the top and the bottom close attention to how it goes apart because that will help you put it back together. So we're just going to cut the cord out and then we're going to pull that cord and that whole upper piece completely out. Then I'm going to take some battery operated warm lights on a copper wire. Very important. You can get them at any home improvement store. I think I got these at Home Depot and I'm going to thread these up through the bottom. So basically, I'm just going to be putting the lamp back together again while threading this entire copper cord of lights up through the entire thing. This is such a great thing to do with crystal lamps because then you can see the twinkle inside. They make beautiful lanterns especially for a tablescape. It's also again, a really great way to give new life to something that might have been left to you, maybe your aunts or your grandparents or someone that's special to you lamp or just a great way to rework something that you may see at an estate sale that's like stunning but you're like, I probably wouldn't put that lamp in my house but I sure would love it if it was a really cool lantern. So, once you get it all put back together, you put a screw at the bottom again. Once you get all the lights fed through and you're going to leave that battery pack is basically going to sit underneath the base of a lamp. You're not going to put the battery pack inside. Screw your bottom on and see how the battery pack. You can use a little double-sided Velcro or sticky tape to hold it right under there. Screw your little screw back on the top. Now, you can do one of two things with the top. Once you've got the little bolt screwed on to hold it all in place. You can either leave it totally just raw like I did here, a little bit more industrial or you can add a decorative finial to the top. Just screw it in and it makes it super pretty as well. So, whatever way you want to go, a little industrial or add that extra decorative. Tap on the top of them. Happy upcycling.

Abigail Risic |Builds•DIY•Flips•Design| on Instagram: "I wanted to give this double tray ceiling a bit more character and I think I achieved that thanks to @sikausa! I used primed MDF boards and laid them in a herringbone pattern. I used @sikausa Pro Construction Adhesive to make sure these boards stay put! It’s Mike Holmes approved so I knew this was the best product to use for this project. It made this project a breeze and I have peace of mind knowing they aren’t going anywhere! I also used it to adhere the faux beams to the inner tray. Sika Pro Construction Adhesive bonds to nearly anything so the possibilities are endless! Plus it dries super fast, in just 15 minutes it was already holding everything together and 24 hours later my ceiling was ready to show off. What do you think of m
