Welcome
NineTail Fennec Photography is a photography company based out of San Antonio, Texas run by Jay Foxx.
About
The idea that eventually became NineTail Fennec Photography was initially formed just at the end of 2012 out of a love of Cosplay, and a desire to give back to the welcoming Texas Cosplay community. The official start however was almost a year later when I did my first actual photoshoot. It took a couple years for the platform to be built, but has now grown to shooting at conventions all around Texas, and with Cosplayers from all walks of life, and all corners of the world. Having been featured in various publications both online and in print, shot with professional Cosplayers and models of varying levels, and accumulated a number of accolades and awards.
Booking Info
For convention photoshoots, a number of posts will be made on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, with additional posts being made more frequently on my instagram story.
To book a shoot at the convention, simply respond, and send a dm (for cataloging purposes), about wishing to shoot.
Required when booking
While everything is up for disscussion, the following will be required in order to book a shoot.Desired Day/Time
Number of cosplayers
Series/Characters
Cosplay and/or non cosplay names (this is for crediting purposes)
Any additional information (such as limited vision, bulky costume, wings/props, etc...)
Chosen way to pay for shoot (shoots of 1 hour (60 min) or longer will require a 25% retainer which will be refundable until the week of the shoot.) Without payment of this retainer, your desired shoot time is not guarunteed.
Preferred payment method is cashapp, and that is the method through which I accept deposit payments. Although I know some people do not bring cards to cons, so remainder of payment is acceptable in cash as well.
Advanced payment beyond any required deposite is accepted as well. For non cosplay shoots, paperwork will be presented prior to the shoot, to be signed. A pdf/digital version will be provided prior to the day for you to look over in case you have any questions.
What's involved in the shoot
1 week prior to the day of your shoot, you will receive a DM through Facebook, or Instagram to re-confirm your photoshoot day, time, and place. This will be the refund cutoff for any deposits made.In this message, a location to meet will be given, which will always be at or near the shooting location. A map will usually be provided in the form of either a satellite view of the area surrounding the convention center, or a map of the convention itself. If you would like to shoot at a specific location, that can be done upon request. Please note that unless stated otherwise, Con shoots are always held outside of the actual convention for legal purposes. But the meeting location will be within the con, and shoot location will always be on the convention center grounds.
During the shoot
Prior to the convention I will always do research on the character, creating a posing guide via Pinterest so I have an idea for what type of poses are good for the character. However, I like to keep shoots as a collaborative experience, so the shoot will always start with poses you specifically know you want, (if any). You may be asked to take some awkward poses for photos or do something unusual. If you are uncomfortable with a pose, or you feel it is not a pose that the character would take, it is perfectly acceptable for you to refuse. I may also take some odd positions, or roll around on the ground to make sure I get the best angle for the photo. It is highly suggested that with me, and any other photographer, you bring a friend with you to the shoot. And any photographer that says no to you doing this, isn't someone you should shoot with. It is important that you feel safe.If I'm unfamiliar with the series or character, I may ask questions to learn more to gain further ideas.
Receiving the photos
Editing time can take anywhere from 1 to 5 weeks depending on the amount of photos taken during the photoshoot and the amount of editing. When editing is completed, you will receive a private message on either Instagram or facebook containing a link to a private proof album, as well as a pin number required for download. If you would like any specific edits done, or notice any issues I may have missed in any photos, feel free to let me know and corrections will be made. (Do not make edits yourself. More info below.)An album will also be created on Flickr, as the proof albums are not permanent.
After receiving the photos
You may post the photos on social media. Shoots of $100 or more do always include limited print rights to one photo from the set, otherwise if you wish to sell prints, contact me and we will work something out.
Important note on Editing
Editing of the photos of any kind beyond the required automatic cropping done by many social media sites, by anyone other than me is strictly prohibited. This is true even for things as simple as face tune, or any sort of social media/app filters. This is because, when editing, I spend many hours achieving a specific look for the shoot. I do not want someone to book a shoot based on photos I took, unless all the editing done to the photos was actually done by me. If upon seeing the photos there is any issues you notice or things you would like done to photos, contact me and I will do so to the best of my abilities while maintaining the visual aesthetic of the shoot."Meme edits" are generally ok, but please contact me prior to get the ok.
Credits and Tags
Please credit me for my work. Give credit where credit is due. Photographers credit their models, models should credit their photographers as well. You must tag me on all social media platforms. (Collaborator tag if possible.) If you need information on who/how to tag and credit, simply ask. If there is someone specific I should tag in a photo (such as a prop/wig maker, or handler if required), please inform me so I can do so.
