I love old McDonald's ads and characters - big, weird, and very 70's. They were modeled after Sid and Marty Krofft's H.R. Pufnstuf characters, who were very popular at the time. In fact, a few of the McDonaldland characters, such as Mayor Mccheese, so resembled the Krofft's creations McDonald's was sued over it - and lost! This is a premium poster that was either given out at McDonalds or available as a mail-away in the early 1970's. It's a a fantastic piece, as it showcases McDonaldland, and all of the classic McDonaldland characters, including the early four-armed Grimace. It was a super-pain to scan and rebuild, and after some work, this is what I got. What I wouldn't give for a 24" x 36" scanner! I'm not certain of the artist, though I'd like to find out who it was. Look closely at this McDonaldland Cookies box from 1974. At first glance it looks like the standard box design from 1975-1980. This box is from 1974 and has been quite elusive to find, as it was only in production for a year or so. I call it the "Grimace Top" box, due to the little image of Grimace on the top box flap.
