Today, I am going to give a tutorial, using modeling paste, to create easy home decor pictures. Primary reasons for cracking in my experience are either using poor quality texture paste or spreading the textures too thick in a single layer. 

Although you could make your own texture paste easily (I shared a tutorial reel two days ago, you can find it from my profile), if you plan to sell your artwork, I'd recommend using a ready made texture paste intended for arts and crafts. 

Different manufacturers call their texture pastes with different names, so look for terms such as texture paste, structure paste, modelling paste or molding paste. silicone modelling paste in moulds for door, vine and swirly bits. texture paste through a brick wall stencil underneath, and cheesecloth & white gesso (primer) over the whole lot. Creating the texture actually took longer than painting it, something which keeps surprising me. Here it is before I added colour - visual might help you to understand how it was done.
