Villa Escudero
Villa Escudero Plantations was founded in 1872 by Don Plácido Escudero & his wife, Doña Claudia Marasigan. Originally a sugar cane, then coconut plantation it is also home to the countries first hydroelectric plant. It is now a resort that features dining while the waterfall provides ankle deep water that cools & caresses your feet. After eating enjoy an authentic live cultural dance show choreographed by National Artist Ramon Obusan, performed with live music, and a tour of the family museum.
Tahanan Bistro
Tahanan is part restaurant and part home to craftsmen Benji Reyes. After six years of studying in Melbourne, his daughter decided to go back home and open Tahanan Bistro. The bistro offers a set menu that pays homage to Philippine produce. It’s Filipino food presented Melbourne-style, enjoyed in a casual-fine home dining ambiance. Benji put his personal touch on everything and made most of the furniture you sit in and eat on. If you are lucky he may be home and able to chat for a little while.
Taal Lake & Volcano
Taal Volcano rests in the middle of Taal Lake. Inside of the volcano is a smaller lake with an island in it. This is why it's often called an island within a lake, that is an island within a lake that is on an island. If that's not weird enough there's a type of snake in the inner lake that's found no where else on earth.. After a 15 minute boat ride you arrive at the volcano & can hike or horseback up the volcano peak. Enjoy a picnic meal, relax & take in the fresh air &` views then descend.
Pintô | Your Door to Philippine Contemporary Art
Pinto Art Museum is unlike any other you will have ever gone to. If you like contemporary art, gardens, stunning views, and coffee shops you just found heaven. The galleries are spread out over 4 buildings with lush gardens separating them. Around the gardens are sitting areas and even beds to lay on while you admire the architecture. Owned by a doctor and art collector the museum was expanded but they took great care to impact the terrain as possible making this a truly spectacular place.
Mall of Asia
This mall is so big it has a tram to shuttle shoppers around it. It has lost some clout in recent years but it still registers as one of the top ten biggest malls in the world. It contains an Olympic size ice skating rink, an IMAX theater and one of the words biggest 3D screens. MOA, as Flilipnos call it, has over 600 stores, 220 eateries, and brings in over 200,000 shoppers each day. Across from MOA is Seafood Island, where a sunset dinner & drinks at the bay is the perfect way to end the day.
Intramuros - The Walled City
The Spanish started construction in 1521 as a fort to defend Manila and its Spanish inhabitants from hostile forces. The quarter square mile area is completely surrounded by present day Manila. is rich in history. Jose Rizal was held in Fort Santiago before his execution which; it later protected the city from Chinese Pirates and also used to torture Japanese soilders in WWII now houses a Museum. More history will be devulged to you during a guided tour in a horse drawn carriage, or Kalesa.
Crescent Moon Pottery Studio & Cafe
The Crescent Moon Cafe serves scrumptious Southeast Asian-inspired dishes as part of its a la carte menu. Their in-house alagao salad and homemade suman have been photographed and featured hundreds of times by various publications and bloggers. There is no set menu, the chef purchases the freshest ingredients available for his dishes. The pottery studio makes the plates used by the cafe but also hosts classes and guest artists.
Ayala Museum
It’s more than your standard Philippine museum and a nice place for you to appreciate both history and art. The museum houses gold and textile artifacts , Philippine, art, hosts commissioned pieces, and items loaned from private collections. The superb diorama exhibit., and accompanying mobile app audio guide, gives a detailed story of Philippine history.
