GLAM/Wikimedians

Welcome to the Cultural Collaborations Project! GLAM is an acronym for Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums. They are the bedrock for our verifiable information and our colleagues in sharing knowledge. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them on on the talkpage, otherwise by email... Top Priorities   Creating documentation for procedures/policies & existing forms of projects so they can be replicated elsewhere. This month in GLAM - January 2011 (and some December 2010 too)   GLAM/Wikimedians/Updates/October 2024 WMF Fellow's to do list   Underway: Focused work on improving commons:Guide to batch uploading Get consensus on what a Wikimedia "GLAM ambassador" *is*, what level of training/exclusivity... Coordinate with Jane Park from Creative Commons about http://wiki.creativecommons.org/GLAM and potential for collaborating with our GLAM documentation/case-studies project Set up a "Free-culture compatible" assessment scheme for GLAMs (trial in one area first e.g. NYC) e.g. m:Free Culture Index Propose 2011 version of the Hoxne challenge, perhaps as a global coordinated "GLAM Challenge". See w:Wikipedia_talk:GLAM/BM#British_Museum_.2F_Wikipedia_collaboration_2011 Still to do: set up survey for museum-l subscribers asking what they want to do with the list/what are their expectations Create matrix for the documentation page identifying which piece of documentation coincides with which case-study (several can match with each potentially). Work out how to place, in the "projects and events" area, a space for in-house activities like "residency", "backstage pass" or especially university apprentice/internship programs (e.g. MAP). Get technical and community input on what is required/desired for a "GLAM report card" (i.e. reporting metrics like Magnus' tools) - link in with the WMF's OpenWebAnalytics discussion on research-l Create a 3-axis matrix (or two 2-axis matrices) for the "documentation and case study" section: "how to/documentation" mapped with applicable case study mapped with applicable organisations. e.g. "how to have a backstage pass", maps with case study from British Museum, maps with "large museum" but not "small library". Done: Re. cultural partners mailing list: move to WMF hosting, rename and publicise (esp. to chapters) Layout the documentation & Case study book idea (including list ideas for submissions + get feedback on the concept)
