somewhere along the way, Percy being "dumb" to Annabeth's "smart" has become a genuine part of their dynamic where in the original series it was more like: Percy's impertinent and could be slow on the uptake because he's not a walking encyclopedia of greek myth in the way Annabeth is and she teasingly calls him "Seaweed Brain" in a way that's supposed to be light-hearted and affectionate but she doesn't actually think he's dumb
in the demigod files annabeth chase says "he's actually pretty intelligent, but he acts so dumb sometimes. I wonder if he does it just to annoy me" and I think that's what the "Seaweed Brain v. Wise Girl" dynamic should be because it a. recognizes Annabeth views Percy as smart, b. acknowledges that he does things that frustrates her or that she doesn't understand, which she conflates to as acting dumb, and c. has her reason it as him trying to annoy her... which depending on the situation he very well could be lmao
and turning this dynamic into "Percy thinks he's dumb, Annabeth thinks he dumb, so thank goodness #girlboss is there to save her stupid boyfriend" is like the lamest path to take honestly

I can't remember how much of this is implied canon or my own interpretation, but I fully believed that Chiron recognized Percy was a son of Poseidon from the fountain incident with Nancy Bobofit, knew that a child of the Big Three being claimed would be a total shit show, and simply chose not to say a word about it
