Couple of panels of Bonisa’s place since they took me the most time to draw. It was a lot of fun to design- she’s someone who is very much into her Europa research work, so much so that she uses her apartment as sort of like a second research lab. It’s still lived in of course, but like other characters in the comic, she too is just a very passionate slug

I've been meaning to ask, are the spots not part of Jo's design anymore? Or are they just left out? He seems rather spotless these days
Oh yeah they still are, it’s just that some certain art styles make it hard to include them. If I don’t use a pattern of sorts then I’d have to draw them by hand, which is quite a bit of effort (especially with 3D, I’m not skilled enough to figure out how to texture pattern him properly just yet). So he still does have his spots, I just haven’t been including them for simplicity

i found out about an animal the other day called Sea Elephants (scientific name Pterotracheoidea) that are translucent mollusks of varing sizes with a trunk-like appendage and it made me think of you and ur blog :)
Woah! I’ve actually never heard of these before, these are so cool! Thank you for telling me about them, I definitely want to look more into these cool little dudes

do you have any big design/writing inspirations that you would attribute your work to?
Hard to say, there’s been countless things that’ve inspired me over the years… Some recent ones from the top of my head, right now I’ve been playing through the Ace Attorney games and cite that as a major source of inspiration in writing- they’re very good! I’ve also been a huge fan of the new UPA style that early 2000’s cartoons had used, that was my biggest art inspiration for the beginning of the story. One big art inspiration I’ve had lately was… for a lack of a better description, whatever style the opanchu usagi comics use. That very simple but goofy kind of style, that’s a big inspiration for me as I want to draw/animate much simpler (you can really see that in the Jo shorts I’ve made recently). The webcomic Laika’s Comet is also a big inspiration with both it’s writing and art, especially its colors! Striving to make MFM that artistically impactful one day. Other than that I’ve been studying a multitude of black and white comics/manga in order to get better at those
Finally after a very long time, I got on some meds that have helped get rid of the fatigue that’s plagued me for ages 🎉 Bad news is that now that I have energy again, I’m ping-ponging back and forth between a billion ideas in my head and feel very sporadic in what I work on. But also, for once in my life, I don’t feel like working on art 24/7 and it’s quite a strange feeling. Either way, I’m glad I finally found something that works

What do August and Berry act like with eachother? They seem pretty close!
In MFM, Berry and August were pretty close growing up. Berry is significantly older than August though, and left the house to pursue her career of being a doctor when August was still kind of young. The two ended up drifting apart just due to not being able to see each other very often, and grew to have pretty different interests and such. Nothing bad had happened between them to make them not close, just time itself and circumstance. But after chapter 42, August has started to try to reconnect with Berry and their parents.
Though in the little side project I’m making that’s based on MFM’s original draft, their dynamic is a little different. They are much closer and kept in contact after Berry left to be a doctor, and keep in contact frequently because of the circumstances of the story. However, their relationship is still a little strained even here, as Berry’s character as a whole makes her hard to get along with sometimes… she’s very reckless and quite the thrill seeker! I said before I have this side project planned as like a 3 part oneshot kind of thing, and you’ll get to see their dynamic once I get to the third part.
