Oppenheimer review

Oppenheimer written and directed by Christopher Nolan and staring Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer. One of the most anticipated films of the year I obviously had to see it immediately when I could and damn Christopher Nolan delivers an absolute treat for a history and film nerds such as myself. Oppenheimer | Official Trailer Synopsis: American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer has a pivotal role in changing the world as he leads a team of scientists to create the first nuclear weapons giving the humankind keys for destruction of life on earth as we know it. My thoughts: Do forgive me the flare for the dramatic in the synopsis, but as Christopher Nolan himself has said this is one of the most dramatic stories in the history of mankind. The movie has quite a lot of dialogue, but it does not feel too long or boring. The pacing is done well in my opinion and the story unlike usually with Nolan is told in a straight forward and almost old fashioned way, which I think works well for thi...

Top Gun: Maverick

Hello I am back after such a long time with a new post and this time we are taking a look at Top Gun: Maverick staring Tom Cruise, Miles Teller and many more. Top Gun: Maverick is directed by Joseph Kosinski and was released 2022. Top Gun: Maverick | NEW Official Trailer (2022 Movie) Synopsis: After 30 years one of the top aviators of the Navy, Pete Mitchell aka. Maverick is working as a test pilot and dodging advancements that would ground him, when he is called to teach a new generation of elite pilots to fly a near impossible mission. My thoughts: Top Gun: Maverick is a solid action film with great action set peaces, some funny moments as well as some drama here and there. I myself don't really have nostalgia for the original movie as I wasn't around to watch it back then, but I do enjoy this one very much and I do think it is way better than the original one. Now I will say this film was an absolutely phenomenal movie theater experience when I saw it, the music, the sounds...

Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator review

Hello and welcome back. I am back once again with a new review, but this time on a fairly old movie. Charlie Chaplin's The Great Dictator was written, directed and acted in by Charlie Chaplin and it was released in 1940. Now this review is going to contain spoilers to the film, but you know it was made like 80 years ago, but now you have been warned so let's get right into it. Theatrical release poster (The Great Dictator) Synopsis: After getting wounded in the Great War a Jewish barber (Charlie Chaplin), he spends years in an army hospital, whilst a fascist dictator Adenoid Hynkel also (Charlie Chaplin) rises to power. When the barber returns to his neighborhood he finds out about the brutal changes that have taken place, whilst he was recovering and now he among his Jewish friends try to avoid persecution.  My thoughts: I have always been a fan of Charlie Chaplin, ever sense my grandmother showed me City Lights for the first time and this film is just pure genius especially...

Knives Out movie review

I am once again back with a new movie review and this time we are taking a look at Knives Out written and directed by Rian Johnson and stars everyone, I mean there are so many amazing movie stars in this film such as Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer, Ana De Armas etc. This was the second time I saw this film and damn did I like it, maybe even more than the first time around. Knives Out (2019) Synopsis: Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is called to investigate the death of a famous crime author Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer). The cause of death appears to be suicide, however Benoit Blanc suspects foul play and everyone else is a suspect. My thoughts:  This film is a brilliant murder mystery brought to the modern day. I mean this is such an ingenious film, the writing is great, the characters were really good and there was a lot of things I missed the first time around seeing it. And the thing I most like about it is the fact that it is not based on already existin...

James bond No Time To Die review

I am back with a new post and it is about Daniel Craig's final outing as James bond No Time To Die. I have been waiting for this movie so long and finally it is here. I also try to not spoil anything important and will warn about it if I do. No Time To Die (Final International Trailer) Synopsis: James Bond has left active service, however his peace is short-lived when his old friend from CIA, Felix Leiter turns up and is in need of help. He leads Bond onto a trail of a mysterious villain with dangerous new technology. My thoughts: First of all I want to say that Daniel Craig has done a really great job as bond for the past 15 years as Bond. This version of Bond really stands out as a more vulnerable and human version of Bond than anyone else before him. And as such I think this Bond film works as a really good outing for him in this role. I also would say it is the best final movie any of the actors have had before him, except for maybe Timothy Dalton with Licence to Kill, which I...

The Father film review

Unfortunately it has been a while since my last post but, I am back here with a vengeance and a new review of a movie called The Father. Now this will be quite short and to the point as I don't have too much to say about this movie.   Synopsis:  The Father was directed by  Florian Zeller and it tells the story a father (Anthony Hopkins) dealing with dementia, he forgets where he is, who his daughter is and as he tries to make since of the changing circumstances he begins to doubt his loved ones, his own mind and even the fabric of reality. My Thoughts:  I will start by saying I really liked this film, now this is the kind of movie that I don't often watch, but I am glad I did. First of all I like how the story is told from the perspective of The Father played by Anthony Hopkins, as this gives us as the audience some perspective how it feels to have dementia or alzheimer's. The confusion that he feels becomes our confusion as well. You see his daughter played ex...

The Courier movie review

(Theatrical release poster) The Courier (2020) is written by Tom O'Connor and directed by Dominic Cooke. It is a espionage drama/thriller and it takes place during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Synopsis: Greville Wynne (Benedict Cumberbatch) a British Businessman is recruited by the MI6 and the CIA to provide crucial intelligence to prevent nuclear war between the Soviet Union and USA. To do this he forms a covert partnership with Oleg Penkovsky (Merab Ninidze) a Soviet officer. My thoughts: I enjoyed this film and don't have too much anything bad to say about it. I think Benedict Cumberbatch does an excellent job as usual, he is believable, he has depth and brings emotion to the character and the movie. Also the other actors do a great job and I want to mention Merab Ninidze, who plays the Soviet officer who helps to provide ...
