Teaching cause and effect using informational text in the upper grade classroom can be tough. It takes a bit of logical thinking, a touch of common sense, and a whole lot of inferencing...which can be a tall order for kids this age. We can make it easier though, by giving the kids lots of opportunities to practice in a variety of ways. Cause and effect chains! So. Much. Fun. I gave each pair of students one event to begin with (the green loop). They had to turn it into a cause and effect chain. I gave them a certain amount of time and made it into a little competition. It was a blast! 5th Grade Art Projects, Art Projects For Elementary Students, Projects For Elementary Students, Art Projects For Elementary, Cause And Effect Activities, Text Structures, Brave Writer, Art Projects Ideas, Text Structure
