Jono Smart on Instagram: "The making of a milk pourer. A little sped up. These are clips taken from over a week showing each stage of the making process. The throwing, turning, and handling. To be honest there are more processes I didn’t show, preparing the clay, glazing and firing the pots. All in all it takes about six to eight weeks for a pot to be made. And that’s if everything goes smoothly! Pourers are one of my favourite pieces to make. They’re delicate and require attention to all the small details, especially the pouring spout, to get them to work well. Enjoy this small film and let me know if you like seeing the process captured like this. #studio #process #pottery #maker #craft #potter #ceramics #handmade #handcrafted #minimal"
attaching handles is usually my least favorite part of the mug making process, but i’m learning that slow and steady really does win the race. it’s true of pretty much every single aspect of ceramics 🐢 i used to pull my handles and attach them in the same day, and i’m finding out it works better for me to pull 1 or 2 days before attaching. i let them dry in a ziplock bag until my mugs are ready. this way they dry evenly and are the perfect consistency for shaping. this has helped a TON, espe...

Joe Thompson on Instagram: "Adding a spiral to the bottom of a trinket bowl. This provides enough surface variation for the glaze to pick out the detail when it's relatively thin, but for it to be covered when more of the glaze flows over the surface #pottery #clay #ceramic #ceramics #handmade #handmadeuk #handmadepottery #glaze #cone6 #wheelthrown #wheelthrowing #potteryvideo #satisfyingvideo #oddlysatisfying #satisfying #oldforgecreations"
Twisted Clay on Instagram: "Its been a year since we posted any @schulzceramics content. You can tell he has been working on developing his technique over that time. For those of you who don’t know, Ryan is my son who has opted to follow in my pottery footsteps. I love having his help around the studio and watching his skills grow in this craft. I feel like soon he will surpass me in skill. I think that is what most parents want though. When he surpasses me in skill at the wheel, it will fill my heart with joy. Right now I think we are neck and neck in the studio, which means in no time at all he will be teaching me ways to be a better potter. One way he has already passed me up is in his water usage. You will notice he is not using a splash pan. This is due to technique he picked up from
