The Basement
The Snake
This home was built in 1897 of bricks from the town kiln by Mohonri Moriancumer Steele, Sr. and has one of the most interesting histories of all the old homes in Panguitch. Known by locals as the “Snake Pit,” it has changed hands more times than any other old home in town. It has been used for many puposes, a few being: a stagecoach stop with a jail in the basement, medical clinic, hotel, and apartments. Highlights: This home has nine gables. 1897 is carved into one front gable.

Walking Tour
35,000 bricks were used to build this home back in 1900. The original owners Joseph and Margaret Heywood raised their eleven children here.
