Claire Smith - Cottage Garden Life on Instagram: "Most of us have at least some shade in our gardens. It is possible to have a cottage garden even in shade☺️Growing in shade can be tricky depending on exactly how deep the shade is, if the shade is dry or wet and for how long a border is in shade. This is a list of flowers to try in a shady border ☺️ Plenty of spring bulbs will flower in shade too, particularly under deciduous trees 🌳 as they die back when the leaves grow on the tree - perhaps consider a spring garden under your trees 🤔 If you’d like more info on shade gardening I wrote a blog ages ago which I’ll reshare in stories for you ❤️ #shadegarden #cottagegardens #gardeninspo #cottagegardenflowers #shadegardening #gardenlifestyle" Shady Border, Shade Gardening, List Of Flowers, Garden Life, Cut Flower Garden, Spring Bulbs, Garden Tours, Deciduous Trees, Long A

You just need to know which plants will be happy there! I would class this border as deep shade as it really only gets 1-2 hours of sun per day however at this time of year there is slightly more light due to the Ash tree not being in leaf yet! Here's what's in flower this month: 🌸 Honesty - (Lunaria annua) 🌸 Daffodil 'Thalia' - (Narcissus) 🌸 Bleeding hearts - (Lamprocapnos spectabilis) 🌸 Forget-me-nots - (Myosotis sylvatica) 🌸 Granny's bonnets - (Aquilegia vulgaris) not quite in flower, but it won't be long! 🌸 Hellebores - (Helleborus) the flowers have faded, but the bracts are still pretty! Together I think it Thalia Narcissus, Lamprocapnos Spectabilis, Shady Border, Myosotis Sylvatica, Aquilegia Vulgaris, Ash Tree, Little Cottage, Garden Borders, Winter Garden
