Think of it this way….is helping your partner cook a meal, or even teaching them how to cook if they never learned how, the same as “doing the work for them”? No….helping and supporting are not the same as doing everything yourself, and emotional care is no exception. Balance. 
How do you know if you’re trying too hard to emotionally engage your partner? If you feel pressure and stress, you’re working too hard. If you feel relaxed and curious, you’re probably not ❤️
